Both of these gals are very good vollyeball players. They are so versatile you can ask them to be middles or outsides and they'll gladly perform. There is a very suttle difference between the two, and it's a comparison between their unique playing styles.
Kanoe let's her setting and hitters do the work. She would rather set a nice ball and watch it get put down by a hitter then put down the ball herself. A very giving and non-selfish player, always giving credit to others for being able to set a wonderful match.
Misty, on the other hand, is very offensive and scored lots of points on dumps, tips, and even swings! This kept opponents extremely off-balanced because they never knew when Misty would turn a pass into spike. She is really clever and her demeanor comes off as being really competitive. Misty would do anything in her ability to get the win.
So you see; when you compare Kanoe and Misty, it goes past who's better at setting because both are extremely talented. It comes down to personality and playing style; Kanoe being more of the giver, while Misty is willing to take more risks.

Sorry, there is only one KK when it comes to volleyball. I was wondering what a thread about him would be doing on this forum.

KK is a very good setter, but if I remember correctly Misty was voted the best player in college volleyball here jr and sr year.

Beach fans should take this as a compliment. This just shows that Misty is simply the standard by which setters who have come after her are compared too...
Relax a little folks, Jordan didn't say that KK was exactly like or better than Misty ... in the end, it's all just a subjective opinion anyway ....
That said, I don't entirely agree with Jordan's comments about how both setters can dominate a match. With Misty it was obvious, she could impose her will on a match -- she was an offensive threat, she jump-served, and opposing teams had to adjust their defenses around her. With KK, her affect on a match is more subtle -- she instead allows her hitters the chance to control things.

Different situations, different players, different competition. If we're talking about accolades, honors, etc, yes, MM probably will beat out KK. If we're comparing pound for pound, inch for inch, athleticism for athleticsm, we would then get a better view of who is better. But how do we measure these variables? Not possible. I am glad because both of them, to me, are equals. Two of my all time favorites.

Ok so that I won't be thought of as a cop out, MM is a legend; KK is coming up to her level. If the Wahine should win the title this year, KK's last, she would be a legend like MM and possibly even surpass MM. If the Wahine falter in the 1st, 2nd round or even in the regionals, KK will be considered not as good as MM and will be virtually forgotten.

Sorry, there is only one KK when it comes to volleyball. I was wondering what a thread about him would be doing on this forum. They can talk about Karch on the mens' side, this is the women's side of the board, and before you ask...yes, I'm a woman.

I second Cubicle's sentiments, and don't want this positive article about Kanoe to turn into a pissing contest between Misty and Kanoe supporters.

I guess we will see if the Hawaii setter can be two-time National Player of the Year... Oh I don't think that can happen now can it? And that's the truth! problem is that Hawaii is heavily loved by this board and would favor the Wahine over anyone. Either way, both of them are good. Misty's just better
