[glow=blue,2,300] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- _Honolulu StarBulletin_
Brian Beckwith, a senior from Loyola High School (Los Angeles), has verbally committed to play volleyball for Hawaii.
The 6-foot-5 setter was the top setter for the USA Youth National Team that won a bronze medal at the NORCECA (North and Central America and Caribbean championships).
"It seemed like a good fit for me," Beckwith said. "I've had the opportunity to travel a lot with my family. I've been exposed to a lot of tropical places.
"It fits my lifestyle. I surf a lot. I really like the group of guys I met. Tino (Reyes) and the Wiltons were awesome. I can't wait to play for them. Everything seemed to fit."
Beckwith said his team hosts were current UH setters Kimo Tuyay and Daniel Rasay. Beckwith selected Hawaii over UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine, and Cal State Northridge.
.....I think Paul......errr brian is an awesome setter and im glad he picked UH [/glow]

Saw Klein play last night in Regional finals. He had a hit on a broken play that I've never seen anyone do in along long time....and I 've watch every level of volleyball fo years. It absolutley stunned a packed gym.
Oh also he ripped aces, ran a perfect offence and roofed a few balls. He is the real deal.
Anyone else looking for a quality setter besides Pepp.
Congrats to Beckwith...long future for that young man.

Hawaii is still waiting on word from Beckwith's teammate Jake Schkud who is a 6'5" MB. Anyone have any other information on this player?
Thanks in advance.

Hey V. Go to www.rollshot.com and look under the Junior Spotlight section. It tells alot about Brian Beckwith and Jake Schkud. They are best friends too so it would seem like Jake should come here although it says in Jake's article that his girlfriend is going to USC. Hmm... best friend or girlfriend? I hope he picks his best friend. Hehe. He looks like a great player.

I just got word that Jake Schkud has verbal committed to UCSB. To bad for his gf and for his best friend Brian. They were a great combo together and would have been great if they would have stayed together. Word from my brother and on the street is that something happened between them and things haven't been the same. Was it because Jake is playing for THE LBC? I will keep everyone posted when I hear more stuff. I don't know if it's true or not.

I have also heard that Schkud is going to UCSB. Don't know why Rasay is so happy on getting Beckwith to sign with them, he is going to be the next guy after Tuyay leaves, or even better than him next season. And lets not get ahead of ourselves with respect to Wilton recruiting SoCal kids. Yeah, he got Beckwith and Motter, but if I am not mistaken his best player is the Brazilian. And we shall see with the new NCAA rules on professionalism, how much he plays this year. Just keep an eye on it.

hey everybody should b be happy with beckwith. it's not always about playing time. sometimes if the team is winning it doesnt matter who plays. that's why sports are they way they are now. cause people like you get mad when they dont play instead of supporting the team. change your attitude and maybe you'll win a national championship one day.

I am not surprised that Schkud decided to play for a California school, since in his rollshot interview, he did mention he wanted to stay in California.
I am actually looking foward to seeing Pedro Azenha (sp?) play.

is beckwith gonna redshirt this season? tuyay will only be a junior, and rasay a sophomore. granted when tuyay leaves, beckwith will probably get the starting job, but 3[/i] setters?

Pay attention! Beckwith is a senior now in high school. Kimo Tuyay is a junior now in college. Next year, Beckwith will be a freshman in college. Tuyay will be a senior. Got it?
