So, there are quite a few automatic bid teams that are in the tournament that few of us know about. I stumbled across this article about Belmont, the Atlantic Sun champion. I'll try to add others from conference champions we know nothing/little of before tomorrow. belmontvision.com/articles/061129_spo_vball.html“Obviously we know it’s going to be quite a challenge for us to beat (Ohio State),” A-Sun All-Tournament teamer Cat Mundy said. “We need to play our best and show them that we aren’t just a little team they can walk all over. We can definitely give them a run for their money."

While Michigan State isn't a lesser known, they aren't a favorite: www.statenews.com/article.phtml The MSU volleyball team is packing its bags for California's golden coast. And if things go well, the Spartans could soon be in Hawaii.
But it won't be a vacation.

Head coach Garvey Pierre: “As far as our chances for beating Minnesota, it’s the NCAA Tournament; we will win if we come out and play Siena volleyball.”

Colorado State is rebuilding this year, so not on a lot of targets, but they did win the MWC and they are a near top 30-team... Here is a quote that is much like those I appreciate when Tom was at Idaho: lcsun-news.com/sports/ci_4726171There are no secrets in volleyball, Colorado State University coach Tom Hilbert said. You either make the plays or you don't.“When I watched the (selection) show, I had a little deja vu,” McLaughlin (Washington) said, “like this has happened before.”

Here's one from MTSU: www.murfreesboropost.com/news.php?viewStory=955"Before the selections were announced I was thinking that playing at Louisville would be an option," said coach Matt Peck. "I think this is a good draw for us. It is close enough for our fans to drive to, and it will be a good match-up."Hawaii fans, how cool would it be to have the option to drive? Sigh. Class action unfair seeding based on geographics? I think it could work.

Hawaii fans, how cool would it be to have the option to drive? Hey, give it a try. What can it hurt? I'll bet if you would lead (singing the Wahine fight song as you go of course), the other Hawaii fans would follow ;D

There are no secrets in volleyball, Colorado State University coach Tom Hilbert said. You either make the plays or you don't. Really? I thought he was trying to work over Coach Feller for secrets on stopping Cal when I saw them talking during the Golden Bear Classic. "You're not getting my Bud Light, Tom."

Looks to me like Tom was asking Rich where he got that cool shirt.

Does Rich Feller ever get teased about his name, as in, "Hey, how'd you get so rich, feller?" (and the like...)

Head coach Garvey Pierre: ?As far as our chances for beating Minnesota, it?s the NCAA Tournament; we will win if we come out and play Siena volleyball.? That's not so crazy. I mean, if Siena volleyball means scoring a lot of points and preventing the other team from scoring, then, yeah, they will win. Unfortunately, the chances of them playing "Siena volleyball" aren't very high. BTW, I'd like to see Minn play Albany in the 2nd round. Albany was at the Purdue tournament this year (and went winless, ISTR, against UNI/Purdue/Bradley, I think). They did have a very nice lefty hitter, who I liked a lot.

I already contacted the ACLU and notified them that the young ladies on the UH Wahine volleyball team were being discriminated against by the NCAA, we'll see how they choose to pursue this.
