This is in response to midwestrules' post about the boxscores that are posted on the Lewis web site. midwestrules said, "i also love how lewis' website never puts the opposing teams stats on their box score."
The reason for this is that the stat program that Lewis uses does not generate an html boxscore that displays the opponent's stats. This will be remedied next season when the industry standard stat program is purchased and used next year.

That dumb program used to be $240 bucks about 6-7 years ago, now I do a websearch and find all kinds of free downloads of it. What does everyone use nowdays? I know the National Team uses DataVolley, which I think was developed by some company in Italy.

Oops. You said output in html. So I guess VolleyStat never had the ability to do that.

There was a time where two players could compete against one another while talking trash, and leave it on the court. A mutual respect for each other was developed over the years, and even lead to friendship.
What happened to players having some class? In my “opinion†it’s a shame on BOTH Mike and Fabiano’s part. They are both Senior’s and team leaders. They are supposed to lead by example to the rest of their younger teammates. What kind of an example is that for their freshman and sophomore teammates to soon succeed them not to mention the high school players in the stands that look up to them?
Show them up by how you play, not how you run your mouth. “Actions ALWAYS speak louder than words.†It doesn’t matter who said what or what they did. It’s time for everyone to stop reading too much into this. When you play college volleyball you have to have thick skin. Wait until they step outside of the court into the “real†world.

I totally agree Smooth. I'm not even refferring to this particular situation.
I know that I'll take some heat from all you "there's not enough trash talking" people but why can't players let their play do their talking? If you're the better player/team, go out and prove it on the court.
Seems like most of what's being said is acceptable (not personal attacks) but some of it is definitely bad an goes too far. IMO

benwipd,
…Loyola was doing alot of trash talking all match, which no big deal, but the player Fabiano shoved made a very rude comment to him. He would never do that unless provoked.
Assuming you were right with your statements…I said It wouldn't surprise me if Alesch would say something like that, he seems like a jackass that way…then he comes out here and tells us his side. So I realize my statement was unfair to him. However, if Fabiano is going to take “trash talking” in a match personal and PUSH someone, that seems more jackass like to me. I know neither of them personally so I will never know what they are like, nor do I care to, I will continue to enjoy watching them play and hope that the next time they meet is full of more trash talk on the court.
So you can go on and defend your “friends” and feel what you feel. You will always be whipped by Roofan. I enjoy going to matches like Lewis vs Loyola or other competitive local matches. I will give my two cents and that’s that. I will think that Sisk is a bad setter and you will think he is great. You will think Fabiano is a great volleyball player and I will think he is a good hitter. We can also agree if you want, like that Stuntz is a great libero.
Last thing…I will have to agree with Roofan about Sisk getting called for very few BHEs, the officials could easily justify calling him for at least 4 a match. And I hope Loyola finally gets their trip to the final four…So close in 1998.

What is up with the ball handling this year? Seems like it is sloppier than it ever has been. Rotation and obvious hand shifts are very common. Besides that, the ref's seem very inconsistent in their calls on it. Have the rules changed?

I would agree with you...And no, the rules have not changed. I think that there are more inexperienced setters out there but the officials do not want to take over a game and call too much. The whole let em play theory. In the past few years, the MIVA had been spoiled with some pretty good setters(JR, Shane and Keith) so officials didn't have to worry about calling anything.

Trash talking on the court where those in the stands can't here it is one thing. I'm not on the court with the guys so I do not know what is being said. I'm not happy about the shoving crap and it shouldn't have happened. And I won't go into this anymore because it's gone on long enough. Now, I hate to say this because Sisk is a good kid, but he's not a great setter. The only time I said he was decent was in the one game against Ball STate. He was very good then. Against Loyola, you could see he was struggling to get the ball to where it needed to go and often missed the mark.
Agreeing with Smooth that players need to be aware of high school kids (and younger) and the freshman and sophomore on the court. Be an example. Keep it on the court and leave it on the court. Fabiano is an awesome hitter, he had some great saves in the Loyola match, but for the most part...come on, even I can see that he hides from having to pass the ball. AND looking at his digs stats, other teams know this too and are forcing him to have to pass.
As far as the ball handling getting sloppy. I totally agree. Ever since the overhand pass (set) has been accepted as the standard to serve receiving, the game has gotten very sloppy. What happened to the forearm pass as being the way to get the ball to the setter.

Agreed...Enough already.
And I agree also that the ballhandling has gone down hill since the rule change. I remember when the rule was first put in, officials were still VERY quick to call hands. At least the stubborn old schoolers were.
