For the fifth time in three weeks, Wilton has juggled the lineup. Azenha, who has played opposite hitter and left-side hitter, replaces Ryan Woodward as the outside hitter/primary passer. Delano Thomas, an All-America middle blocker last season, starts at left-side hitter. The other starters are Tuyay, middle blockers LaBarre and Joshua Stanhiser, opposite hitter Matt Bender and libero Alfred Reft.
Didn't Wilton say he was going to start Muise at Libero? Is he injured? Must be hard for the Hawaii players. Around this time of the year most teams have settled into a lineup. Hopefully they beat Pepperdine this weekend.

I was sitting behind the bench about seven rows during the Irvine series and as testimony to how screwy the line up changes are becoming, LaBarre didn't even know he was starting one night and was on the sidelines before the national anthem. Wilton actually had to tell him he was starting. This is becoming ridiculous. I think Wilton should just stick to the Woodward, Tuyay, Reft, LaBarre and Stanhiser, Bender, and Thomas/Azenha lineup for the remainder of the year. It is not fair to the team to keep changing things so radically. Their play has been so sporadic in recent weeks, you have to wonder if the continual changes and instability of the lineup have something to do with it. After all, when you're competing so much with your own guys to retain your starting spot, how are you supposed to focus on competing with the other team?

Who did LaBarre think was starting in his place? Delano? From the sounds of the reports it sounded like there were a few different mishaps that night like a player forgetting to take off a necklace. La Barre couldn't get his pants off at a game too. Was this the same game? Wilton has had to use some valuable timeouts for player mishaps. To his defense he has an airhead or two on the team. Interesting.

I'd have to agree on that one. I haven't seen a UH team with such a collection of dorks on the roster since the Rosehill era.
Hopefully, somebody down the road will step into a leadership role (i.e. like a Zimet).

the team this year really seems to need a leader who is the undisputed leader of the team. not just because he is named captain. not saying that kimo and jake aren't doing worthy, but it seems that sometimes the guys are lost out there. i do believe that maulia not being able to get his pants off was a fluke though. the changing line-ups do not help, especially when the team can't develop chemistry because you don't know when you're going to get pulled.
