This Medaille team is in its 2nd year of existence. They have 5 Freshman and 1 sophomore starting.
5 out of the 6 come from the Eden club. Not bad.
Juniata is the odds on favorite for sure but this is a pretty fiesty group of kids from NY.
The DIII scene seems to be thriving out East with new teams popping up all the time.
example Nazareth College will start up next year to be headed by the Pace's 18's coach.

Congrats to Coach Ken Shibuya. His first of I'm sure many DIII Titles. Couldn't be a nicer more stand of guy than Ken. Juniata was too strong.
Juniata Blanks Medaille to Win Molten Title Eagles claim second Molten Division III Men's Invitational Volleyball Championship title
4/17/2004 -HARRISONBURG, Va. – The final match of the 2004 Molten Division III Men's Invitational Volleyball Championship featured Medaille, the North Eastern Collegiate Volleyball Association Champion and the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Champion, Juniata. Juniata was making its fifth appearance and Medaille its first.
It would be experience that would bring Juniata its second title as the Eagles defeated Medaille in three games 30-16, 30-16 and 30-27.
It would be all Juniata in the first two games. Committing just five errors, the Eagles soared to big leads in each game and the defense stifled the Mavericks offense. Medaille was forced into 16 hitting errors as it saw Juniata compile eight service aces. Juniata would win both games by a score of 30-16.
The Mavericks gave the Eagles a run in the third game as they answered each other until Juniata broke away after a 21-21 tie.
The tournament most valuable player Kenny Eiser (Doylestown, Pa.) would be integral in giving Juniata a two-point advantage and holding on for the victory. Eiser would finish with 13 kills and five blocks. Ryan Genova (Reading, Pa.) led the Eagles with four service aces. Glenn DeHaven (S. Huntington, N.Y.) and Ricky Ziegler (Manchester, Pa.) joined Eiser and Genova on the all-tournament Team.
Erik Hartman (Hamburg, N.Y.) led the Mavericks with seven kills and was named to the all-tournament team.
Juniata wins the 2004 Molten Division III Men’s Volleyball Invitational for the second time in school history and the first time under head coach Ken Shibuya.

This Medaille team is in its 2nd year of existence. They have 5 Freshman and 1 sophomore starting. Clarification - Medaille actually has been competing at the varsity level in men's volleyball since 1999 and not in its second year of existence. It has been a member of the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association since its inception in 1999.

There are currently 32 D3 teams on the EAST Coast that are in the 4 divisions of the NECVA . 10 in New England Alone. In fact that largest population of Men's College Volleyball teams are in Boston, with the following teams. (Newbury, Wentworth, Lasell, Mt. Ida, MIT, Harvard, Emmanuel). Lot of Men's team for one city.
