I went with Hebert because of his medical issues, but it probably should be Gregory.

Hebert has a contract until 2010. I hope he can fill that contract. Great coach, great person, great asset for the University and volleyball in general.
In looking at those names it strikes me that many are the pioneers of where women's volleyball is today. Most started when women's volleyball, and women's sports in general, were mere afterthoughts. Incoming coaches have some pretty big shoes to fill. I hope the new generation won't ignore what those above have accomplished.

A little history from Mike Hbert's book: The Fire Still Burns. It's a quicky book that came out after he took Illinois to the Final Four.
When Hebert was a senior at UCSB, Dave Shoji was a freshman. Hebert had only played with Dave Shoji, but some other future coaches that played there were Tom Shoji, Gerald Gregory, Don Shaw, and Kenny Preston. Now this was club volleyball, not varsity.
Hebert said that once he was at a camp in Colorado and realized how many UCSB alums there were at the camp, they had Gaucho t-shirts made up and were able to form a Gaucho alums volleyball team to take on the other coaches. Pretty interesting.

I picked Shoji, but it doesn't look like he's slowing down at all. He's like the Dick Clark of Volleyball.

Cook - NU ... He should go away Cooker isn't going anywhere for along time. Like it or lump it; take it down the road and dump it.
