Per PrepVB: Katherine Harms, 6-0 RS from Little Falls, plays on MN Select 16-1 with Cipperly, Gaffen and Mewhorter. Listed as 6-1, touching 9'10" at MN Select site. www.mnselect.comI also heard, 2nd-3rd hand, that Kelly Roysland may be playing this Spring. Don't know if that means she might try 2007. She was a damned good HS Vb player, even at her height. State POY, as a matter of fact. Good golfer, too. (WBB player for those who don't know. Broke her collarbone two weeks ago, but expected back this month. Senior BB eligibility.) I hope this wasn't confidential back at the original source. I don't think it was. Halvorson to OSU?

In theory, the Gophers should have a lot of good golfers.
And yes, Ruffda, it was confidential.

How many recruits to the Gofers have to get in 2009? And are they done with 2008 already?

They still have spots open for 2007 and/or 2008, so that affects 2009.
Seniors in 2008 are Hartmann, Schmidt, Vatterrodt and Roehrig.

Thanks Ruffda. I just looked at the Gopher roster - odd that there would be such dramatic differences in each class. Next fall - one senior and on sophomore (scholarship players). Why is that?

Roysland has a broken collar-bone right now. The BB team hopes she's back by tournament time.
She may have been a great player in high school but I would think she would be very far behind now. Not playing for 3 ++ years at the collegiate level would make her so.

Thanks Ruffda. I just looked at the Gopher roster - odd that there would be such dramatic differences in each class. Next fall - one senior and on sophomore (scholarship players). Why is that? Just weird stuff. Bratford redshirted. Brafford left. Freiborg left. Jackson's apparently gone. Florian had a spot and then decided to retire. Pavan and Hodge both committed really late in the process, which had domino effects. They've been giving single year scholarships, I think. I'm trying to figure out where it all started, but I'm drawing a blank. I guess most of it does back to 2004, when Jones was the only commitment -- and Jackson was added much later after Pavan committed to Nebraska. Then Jackson redshirted.

Jackson has been plagued by injuries and has decided to leave the team.

Her freshman year? She wasn't ready for DI ball. So she redshirted.
I don't think she's coming back. She didn't play at all last year and didn't even warm up for most of the year. Either she's injured or she's transferring. She wasn't at the banquet. I think she'd still have two years of eligibility if she's healthy enough to play somewhere else -- and she has improved. She's just been injured almost her entire career.

I hope Roysland gets feeling better. I predicted the Gophers wouldn't win another hoops game against anyone other than NW/Michigan until she gets back after watching them lose to Wisconsin. Fox is good, and Ellis-Milan can play, but they don't have a lot of punch right now. If she can recover enough to play volleyball in the spring, that would be a great sign for her.

'09 could be a great class for MN, if they land the in-state talent, which seems to be a very deep class of sophmores. Would be nice to see some commits from Amy Braun, Brittany Chambers (Nat'l Soph of the Year), Tia Gaffen, Arriel Mewhorter. They were all on the top soph list. And perhaps one from Canada

Prepvolleyball.com called her "a freakish athlete," which I'm sure was a compliment to her natural abilities. If she touches 9'10" now, how far can one expect a sophomore to increase their vertical by college?
