They have made contact with at least one east coast coach about the position.

Small school head coach, no connections to west coast other than recruits, which makes it interesting.

Think USD assistant coach who filled in as acting head coach during Petrie's LOA and brought them to the Sweet 16 after losing AA Setter Sherburne. BTW, after the latest fiasco involving Santa Clara coach having no control over his team (drunken, racist party antics as reported in the news internationally), don't look for any SCU coaches moving up anywhere soon.

Here's the link to the story. Along with five volleyball players, one men's basketball player, and one men's golfer, along with the host, who is an unidentified half-Mexican athlete, was mentioned. media.www.thesantaclara.com/media/storage/paper946/news/2007/02/15/News/Theme.Party.Provokes.Outrage-2722134.shtmlNote: For some reason, the html at the end isn't connected with the attached link, so just add "html" at the end of the "s" to get the article. By the way, the San Diego assistant coach who took over for Petrie is Brent Hilliard. I always thought he would wait until a job in Southern California opened up for him and even then, it would have to be the perfect situation. However, if he does end up taking the USF job... good luck to him. He's a great coach who knows his stuff.

I wouldn't blame the coaches for what the kids do outside of the campus. The Santa Clara coaches have done a great job the past few years. Taking the program to a national level. But why leave a great job at SCU to get underpaid at USF. The sad thing is that USF has som great talent!

Funny thing is that I knew about "cholas". I didn't know what it meant or where it came from, but when I saw the photo of the girl with the full lip liner around the mouth, I knew what that was immediately. In the article, the spokesperson said she was surprised people knew about "cholas". I believe she is the one who has been insulated from the real world. People pick up things, learn from each other, just like I knew about "cholas" and like how little kids learn about sex and drugs and VolleyTalk outside the home.

Whatever happened to Dave Holloway formerly of Santa Clara U and UOP. I heard he was eased out at UOP when the new coach brought in his staff. Wasn't he the 1st assistant at UOP with the other Dave as the 2nd Asst?
