Is this invitational open to the public? I live only 15 min from GLC and would love to see some of these teams play since we never get to see them in the Chicagoland area.

Iowa, Wisconsin, Purdue, Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State are in The Big Ten and play every year at Northwestern. You can always get a Northwestern schedule and see them there.

Yeah, but that would mean you'd have see NW that many times Actually, if the poster does live near GLC in Aurora/Naperville, then Northwestern is a pretty hefty drive (probably an hour)

Its on the way northside of Chicago, Aurora is the far western suburbs. Traffic in Chicago is a beast.

However, on Saturday, you can get to Northwestern much faster at that time of the evening. And P-Dub is right...you do have to watch Northwestern. However, if one of the top Big Ten Teams is in town for a Saturday match, you might want to consider it.

No one has to watch them play around here unless they go to the Iowa - NW match, which I didn't and wouldn't.

A Hawkeye fan slamming the Wildcats ? Now that's Big 10 loyalty for you. Any program that paints their visitor's stadium locker room pink has got to be something special.
Since we're talking about Big Ten bottom dwellers, how many times did Iowa take nationally ranked Big 10 teams to 5 games in the past several years or make it to the NCAA tournament ?

and... what does that have to do with anything? I simply stated I can think of nothing worse than driving to Aurora to watch NW play, not that I stated Iowa was better than them. As a matter of fact, I stated that I wouldn't want to watch either team play. They both suck.

Oh, and to answer your question. Iowa took Purdue to 5 games this year and I believe they were ranked all year. Also took Iowa State to 5 and they made the tournament, though, I don't think they were ranked. Took Minnesota, Wisconsin and Ohio State to 4. Nothing for the NCAA tournament for many, many years. 1993 or 1994 I think, when Katy Fawbush was a junior. She was a good egg.

Iowa finished 3rd in the BigTen for the 1994 season; 14-6 in conference; 24-9 overall.
Don't know how well they did in the tournament that year.
For the 1995 season they were the "odd team" in the conference dropping to 10th place in conference (Northwestern was 11th); 3-17 in conference; 10-21 overall.
Since that year Iowa has had the following conference win numbers:
9: 2000 5: 1996 4: 2005 3: 2001, 1999, 1998 2: 2006, 2004, 2002, 1997 1: 1996
They were the "odd team" again for 2006 so I'm interested to see how they'll do in 2007 in terms of pulling off upsets of teams that overlook them while tailoring their practices predominantly around playing Minneota.
