Can they knock out Nebraska and win the big 12? Two outstanding classes in a row. Last year was headlined by Engle and Hooker, they follow that up w/this years #2 & #3 players Faucette and Doris. They took Nebraska to five games in Austin but were swept in Lincoln. Ocevedo is gone but Moriarty returns. Hooker will be a force in the front row, and if she ups her game, attacks from the back row as well and continues to develop her jump serve and passing-----her potential to do damage is awesome. Engle was big 12 freshman of the year and will also be an improved player. If the two youngsters come in and contribute the way Engle and Hooker did last season-----could make for a dogfight in the big 12.

Based on their lackluster performance at the Great Lakes tournament recently, I would say that the tall drinks of water will need all the time they can get to bring their game back to the A level.
Isn't Texas still rated by the Princeton Review as the best drinking campus in the US ?

Not sure the Great Lakes tournament should be a benchmark.
The two new players, Faucette and Doris, were not in attendance. Ruthie was banged up and didn't play, if I recall corectly. And I believe AA Brandy Magee was still rehabbbing and wasn't risked to play either. So with a couple of seniors gone they were short staffed a bit.

Spring ball means diddly-poo.
Texas will be a big factor in the Big 12, but they're fighting an uphill battle against Nebraska who returns so much talent.

Texas will be just fine but it will definitely be very tough to knock off a solid and experienced Nebraska. Five AAs and two POY on the court for the Huskers will be formidable for ALL opponents.
I do like the options Texas has on the table with a good mix of veterans and young players. Engle, Moriarty, Magee, Jennings, and D Hook are a solid base. Paolini, Christian, Dorris, Faucette, Kisner and Hall should contribute and add some depth. Wish it were August now!

I am not overly impressed with Nebraska's '07 and '08 recruiting classes. I expect them to come back to the field very quickly after the current seniors say so-long. However, this year, Texas will have to solidify passing, blocking, and consistent offense. I know - Texas is huge and should be a dominant blocking team, but did you see them last year?

Texas will be fine if they run a 6-2. That way they will actually have a block against teams OH's.

Texas is loaded with talent this year. I hope they can put it all together this season. Texas reminds me of Penn State, both teams have more talent than any other teams, but they have had some difficulty pulling everything together.
