I was in Huntington beach for this event and watched the pair of Mcpeak/Tom play and it was certainly not Tom that is slowing this team down. I just think that McPeak is past her prime, she just cannot put the ball away. And you guys talk about Tom partying too much and she is such a diva. from what the players say about her she is just a great competitor. All the mens players respect her. I saw her chit chatting with fans and smiling with her fellow competitors. It just looks like she is happy being around beach volleyball. I just think she need to pick up a better partner. I think Keao Burdine or Makare Wilson. But there are rumors that JOhnson/Davis might switch partners after all these years. so annette davis might be a good fit for her.

Have to agree with you regarding McPeak. I watched her play a few times last year....once with Branagh. Again... it was McPeak who was holding the team back. She almost needs a "perfect" set to be effective.
There was an interesting article on AVP.com about McPeak. McPeak was just gushing about Tom.

I tried to play sand volleyball at a family picnic a couple of weeks ago. After about 2 minutes I thought I was going to die. Yes, I'm old, Yes, I'm out of shape, but it amazes me the condition these athletes are in.

McPeak had difficulty putting the ball away even in her prime. The new ruleset just makes it that much more difficult for her.
Tremendous competitor and defensive player. But the way the game has evolved in the past decade, it is increasingly more difficult for a player her size to be amongst the top-tier of the sport.

I think the key to Logan Tom is her setting. Although she is a great all around player, she is not known for her setting ability. So, my guess is that the Lindquists served tough (Katie Lindquist is #2 in aces in Huntington with 18 aces) to McPeak, causing bad passes and inadequate bump setting by Tom. In Holly's journal, Holly does mention their difficulty in siding out against the Lindquists. Not sure how much of that is due to the setting or the hitting, but would definitely have to be an area to improve on heading into Arizona. www.hollymcpeakusa.com/1775740.html
