Yep. Forgot that one.
Is this stat true then? I don't think there has ever been a repeat of the same two teams in consecutive years in the finals.

Stanford will win. They got the terminator they needed on the left in [glow=red,2,300]AK47,[/glow] Browne's big block in the middle to team with Foluke, intense Waller on the right and great backcourt help for Fish in Ailes and Cassidy. Healthy, no one touches this team. LOL! Now whenever I see or hear her name mentioned, AK47 is going to pop up in my head. I've begrudging (being a Nebraska fan) got to agree w/your take on Stanford. I've got this premonition that Klineman is going to explode on the scene like no-one ever has. I've also wondered why Cook didn't go after Ailes. What I've read on the kid she sounds like a Candace Lee defensive clone.

Cook went after Ailes. She chose Stanford.

While I realize off topic, just noticed that all three teams beat Stanford in the year they won after losing (UCLA, Penn State and Nebraska). Does this mean that Stanford can't win this year since they can't beat themselves (well unless you mean metaphysically).

Yep.
Two five game losses and a sweep win I believe.

I think each team has a equal chance of winning its just the matter of who wants it more and who brings the intensity to the court. It is pavan, houghtelling, stalls, and schwarts last year and i think they will bring it cause its there last year and their experence will carry them.

My predictions (barring any major injuries or player loss):
1) Stanford will make the Final Four easily, especially since they are a Regional host
2) Florida will not make the Final Four despite being a Regional host again
3) Nebraska's senior-laden team will be in the Final Four again
4) Either Texas or Penn State will be in the Final Four, but not both
5) A second Pac-10 team will advance to the Final Four

My pick is Texas. Nebraska takes it again next year - if everyone remains healthy. How is Houghtelling's shoulder doing? Not very easy to play competitive ball after surgery. Same goes for Stanford. The injury bug bit the Wahine last season. I wonder who it will go after this coming fall

What is the Stanford team's injury status ? Barboza looked phenomenal after her ACL repair. Furthermore, they x-train positions so one player can move into anothers position with authority.

Is Waller going to start at the right this coming season? Man, was she good in last year's final. Fun to watch. Is she consistent though?

Cook went after Ailes. She chose Stanford. True, but he made the mistake of thinking he could get her to walkon the first couple years then realized later she didn't bleed Nebraska red and was going to have to offer a 4 year scholarship. In the end Stanford was always her dream school.

Is Waller going to start at the right this coming season? Man, was she good in last year's final. Fun to watch. Is she consistent though? Last year, Waller was a backup for Barboza and Richards at outside hitter when she was suddenly subbed in as the front-row OPP to plug a hole in Stanford's blocking and hitting, surprising both the fans and Erin herself, and held on to the position. After that, she had many good matches and a few dominant ones... Stanford's wagon-circling rally against UCLA at Maples and the regional final against Texas stand out. Is she consistent? As she's become more assertive, she's become more consistent... she never vanished offensively the way Richards sometimes did in her sophomore season, but there were matches that she didn't get very many sets. Will she play right side this season? If Coach Dunning doesn't put Barboza, Klineman or Akinradewo there, probably. FYI, Barboza and Waller swapped places on occasional points (with Waller moving to left front and Barboza to right front after the serve) as a change of pace... far more often than any other two Stanford front-row players.

This could be Florida's year. If this isn't, it will be awhile. Yeah, Florida has probably the best roster I've seen since I've been here but there are a lot of others teams with superb rosters. Hopefully the Gators can get it done because we're losing a lot of talent after the season.

I'll throw Wisconsin's name into the pile here... they definitely don't have the "name" players like Nebraska, Stanford, PSU and Texas (who I think are the four best teams next year), but with hosting a regional and having a pretty senior laden squad that's been to 2 elite 8's they have a chance.
The Badgers return seniors (and all 4-year starters) Jocelyn Wack at Libero, Jackie Simpson at setter and Taylor Reineke at MB. It looks like they will be moving Jeffers to the middle, which will be nice because they'll finally have a middle who actually can pound the quickset and 31 rather than running mainly slides like Reineke, Bladow, Shaw... Replacing Jeffers on the right is 6-3 Katherine Dykstra who is having an amazing spring season and really coming into her own on the right. She could be a shutdown blocker and an offensive force with a little more time in practice at the position. Of course, Dolgner returns to anchor down the left side and could be one of the better all-around leftsides in the country next season - she just needs to improve her blocking a bit.
The only real question, other than health, is at the second outside position. Luckily, the Badgers have a lot of depth there with 6-4 Morgan Salow and 6-0 Caity DuPont and Allison Wack. I'm guessing DuPont will get the starting nod as she will be the most proficient attacker, but Salow and Wack could see time depending on if the team needs a bigger block (Salow) or better ball control (Wack).
Overall, this is the year for the Badgers to get it done because they lose an amazing core of players after this season who have contributed for several years. The pantry isn't bare for 2008, but it's definitely less experienced than who's on the floor in 07.
