I agree that UNI was a legit Cinderella. I have a tough time calling a school from a BCS conference a Cinderella team. Cal Poly could crack top 10 this year.

Oral Roberts had a couple of "cinderella" seasons

For Ohio to have cracked the Top 25 is amazing. That, however, is their ceiling, I'm afraid. They will never get the athletes to move higher. Closest thing the sport has ever had to TRUE Cinderellas are: Tennessee, Santa Clara and Missouri. Maybe Minnesota in 2003. But the only REAL Cinderella was UNI -- and they fell short of the Final 4. Soothy, Ohio's only down fall is that the conference that they are in does not help them, however: they still bring chills to those so CALLED big conf teams because on how they play and how they are trained. Sorry dude...to say they don't get the athelets is an indication of your lack of knowledge of the program and its players. Ask AZ in 2005 how the phamtom calls in game five put them in the final eight while Ohio was relegated to just watch from home. ESTRELLA

If I can chime in here, I'd agree Ohio does _not_ get the athletes the major conferences do. That's why their post-season success in 2005 was so eye-opening -- and a credit to the staff and players.
I'd also add that the 2006 version was not nearly at that level.

Ohio got a great recruit from Kentucky named Sue Jacobi.

Oh, and of course the only true, real, sincerely media-worthy cinderella team this year would be...... .......... ......... ........ ....... ..... .... .. . . | | | UTAH

Purdue, Cal, Hawai'i, Minnesota. Although only Purdue and Hawai'i would really count as "Cinderella" teams in my opinion. The other two would just be "everything came together at the right time and all the hard work paid off" teams. Cool choices but I wouldn't include Hawaii as a cinderella team. They are highly expected to perform well every year by the whole country. UH is a name that has no time to be collecting dust. So, its not "cinderella", its more like "can they get it together for once and go all the way - CHAMPIONS!!!

Hardly call Minnesota a Cinderella, either, in the championship game a few years ago, and gave Nebraska the best test last year in a regional final.

I say Pepperdine will be a cinderella team.......! Unless Pepperdine gets some ball control, they won't be a Cinderella team. They've got the tall hitters and blockers... but without ball control, it doesn't mean squat.

Big 12 cinderalla. Last year was Oklahoma. This year? Of course my pick is Baylor. The youngest team in the nation last year starting 4 freshmen, this year will be the X factor in the league.

Closest thing the sport has ever had to TRUE Cinderellas are: Tennessee, Santa Clara and Missouri. Maybe Minnesota in 2003. But the only REAL Cinderella was UNI -- and they fell short of the Final 4. Tennessee was overrated from a "cinderella" point of view. They were a preseason top 10 who returned a lot of players from a 3 loss team. Everyone forgot how much talent they had after the early / mid season losing streak, and then was shocked when they turned it on late in the year. I think this year's team that will redefine the word cinderalla as we know it will be AFA

The fact that you are speculating about them kinda' automatically knocks em' out of "cinderella" status. Cinderella is someone totally unexpected coming out of nowhere.

This would be my vote...I wish Beth and the Utes all the best. Cinderella would be most deserved.
