This was posted today at dotyoureye:
Sunday, June 3, 2007 Should've known this was coming Well, I started this blog with the best of intentions: to have some fun, to try and get a laugh out of some people, to bring some interesting writing to volleyball, the game I love, because it desperately needs something other than sports information press releases and student newspaper articles.
I wanted to provide some entertainment. And I hope for the 300+ people a day that were reading the site, I accomplished that. I got a lot of really nice emails from people. But I've decided to stop because...well this thing takes a lot of time, and I was missing some really good TV. No one told me The Sopranos was ending.
Thanks,
the kindly folks at dot your eye
This is really too bad. There was some great stuff on this site and I enjoyed the good clean fun that was available for VB fans. From what I heard (grapevine) a pac 10 coach was upset with something that was written and threw a fit. Anyway - to dotyoureye, thanks for trying.

Such a sad turn of events....DotYourEye's irreverent sense of humor was a bright spot in my day that I truly enjoyed.
Have we really lost the ability to laugh with ourselves? All were fair game-hence the beauty of the site.

I was wondering why nothing was updated for a few days, when I checked this weekend. I LOVE this blog spot. It is the *only* blog I read!!! Why would a Pac 10 coach throw a fit about dotyoureye ... Hello?! I would think if you are NOT mentioned it would be a bigger insult!

I didn't hear any rumors about who might be upset, but Moore would seem like the most likely to be upset. I've heard enough about the other coaches in the Pac-10, and most don't give a rat's ass about what other people might be thinking or saying about them.

But whatever the reason, it sucks. It was the first site I went to every morning.

All these posts insinuate that the dotyoureye blog is ceasing for a reason other than the one stated that it's time-consuming for the blogger. I take it the identity of the dotyoureye blogger is well-enough known despite the anonymous handle and works in circumstances in which he/she is "vulnerable" in some way to an annoyed volleyball coach or similar. Otherwise, why would dotyoureye give two hoots if someone is miffed with the blog?

I am a good friend of a college coach who was mentioned in one of the articles/blog recently.
He really didn't care and although it wasn't overly flattering, he said, if you can't laugh every once in a while, especially at yourself, then you're taking life too serious.
It's the internet and it's free speech, so he said let it fly.

For the record, the blogger himself/herself does not say that outside pressure was a reason for closing it down.
It has to do with a lock and years of wonder, oui?

It's easy for those of us who were passive readers of dotyoureye to enjoy having a modern blog-style source for informed or at least amusing posts on the game we love so much. But we all have to remember that gathering and synthesizing enough material to frequently update that site took a lot of time and effort -- time and effort which produced nothing in the way of income or power. Although I want the site to return as much as anyone, and it was wonderful while it lasted, I think it would behoove us all to admit that after six months of juicy vball gossip, (R)uffda deserves a break from the burden of maintaining dotyoureye.
NOTE: I am not (R)uffda's webmaster's mom

I'd love to take credit. But it ain't me. The graphics alone would have stumped me.
I know who, however, and, for the right price, that info can be had.
