Wasn't Shonda Cole in the running for first team AA about halfway through the season?

I hope they never put up a fourth team.

It will never happened. I still have some issues with the addition of the AVCA Third Team Selection a couple seasons ago.

Doesn't the "Honorable Mention" get close enough?

Doesn't the "Honorable Mention" get close enough? I was thinking the same thing IB. There have been enough players on he honorable mention list in recent years to make up multiple additional AA teams. 2006 AA Teams:Team 1: 12 players Team 2: 12 players Team 3: 12 players Teams 1-3: 36 players Honorable Mention: 64 players (or the equivalent of 5+ addatioinal AA Teams)

I think if they were to add a fourth team it will definitely take away from the prestigousness (SP? is that really a word) of earning all-American honors. The more players you add on to this all-American list the less honorable it will be to earn all-American honors.

At a Forth team AA level I would put more stock in All Region type teams. The first few teams are full of obvious candidates and layers from high level teams that get the most exposure, but how do east coast coaches/voters evaluate WCC or Big West players, or west coast coaches those from the SEC or Big East? UCSB is not leaving California this year, for instance, and although they have made the tournament every year, they don't dominate. Doesn't mean they may not have an AA on the team. Vball has finite scoring, so there are only so many points and assists a player can have. If, as I understand it, the coaches vote, they can tell who they would want on their own team, which is as good a criteria as any; just do the coaches, or whoever votes, have the opportunity to see players who are contenders for Third team All American.
