Whatever happened to her? If I remember correctly she was a Junior in '04, right? She seemed a bit sickly to me, did she retire her senior year? Or am I confusing her with Jen Hynes, if so, what happened to Hynes?

I believe Hynes went medical hardship along with a couple of other Illini players. The poor program has had a remarkable rash of bad luck with medical issues. Nothing to do with the program, coaching or training....just a spat of bad luck. Hopefully, 2007 will be the start of a smoother ride as their long time mascot, Chief Illiniwek, fades into the sunset due to NCAA bigotry.

Hynds did have to leave the team due to injury, from what I read in the Champaign paper. Illinois sure hasn't had any luck in that area in recent seasons. Belter was able to play her entire career, but she hurt her hand and had a massive wrap on it her senior year, I believe. To her credit, she was able to win Big Ten POW even with the wrap, so she was tough as well as a good player.

I had to play my senior season with a massive wrap around my head. I still don't know why.
It hampered my play.

I had to play my senior season with a massive wrap around my head. I still don't know why. According to my sources, the coaches were getting tired of you always hitting the ball the wrong direction, so they figured if they wrapped your head and covered your eyes, there might be a 50/50 chance that you would actually hit the ball toward the other team's side of the court. This is why your coaches always impressed me. They did the little things that made the team better. Unfortunately, they weren't quite bright enough to do the BIG things that needed to be done.
