I'd like to see them play a game with all DSs and Ls. Pick some creampuff, like Penn State, and go for it.

Merlau was the outlet player. If there was a bad pass, she got the set, which didn't help her hitting percentage . There should be more tall/big hitters in the Purdue lineup this year, so people won't key in on her as much. That's no revelation. The "outlet" player on every team is generally an outside hitter. Bad passing does not lend itself to a middle offense. I know that Dolgner, especially later in the season, got a lot of sets when Simpson got in trouble. Just look at the amount of swings she got in some games. I'm sure Bruzdinski performed the same role for Michigan. Both of these players hit for much higher percentages than Merlau...as a matter of fact, every outside on the All Big Ten team did. I think Merlau needs to cut down on the amount of hitting errors she suffers with.

Oh, Boiler, everyone was including Bri McCarthy as a 2006 Senior, because she had a med red-shirt in 2005. So yes, she's a 5th-yr senior in her 4th yr of eligibility.
Yo Daddy ;D

Bruzdzinski. Last warning. Sorry Ruffda......you already know I have a problem with that name. I was hoping you wouldn't see my post, I was too lazy to look up the proper spelling.

I agree, Hartmann will be Pre-Season All Big Ten. You're a "homer", newbie................ I only included Hartmann in my original choices because Minnesota is a little thin in the talent department this year, but I didn't want to have the Gopher fans feel too bad about it. Jones isn't even a lock for pre season honors. They probably won't finish better than fourth in the Big Ten. You heard it here first...

Wasn't Wisconsin supposed to beat MN both times last year too bomber? We shall see, I say they at least split.

Bomber -
Do you think all the WI Spring injuries are going to be a problem in the Fall?
Or were they all just end of the year aches and pains, and everyone is healthy now?

Wasn't Wisconsin supposed to beat MN both times last year too bomber? We shall see, I say they at least split. No, the Badgers weren't supposed to beat the Gophers both times. The Badgers started two seniors (not their best players) to the Gopher's four senior starters (who were their best players). The Gophers had at least two All Big Ten players on their roster last year. Their team was loaded with veteran players, and really was a force to be reckoned with all season. But that was then, and this is now. Like it or not, the Gophers don't have near the talent they had last year, nor do they have near the experience. And they have no All Big Ten players returning. They have BIG holes to fill at outside hitter, middle, and in the back row. Losing Bowman and Peniatta will severly hurt their passing. They don't even have their ass't coach back, Dave Boos, who many thought was the brains behind their x's and o's. It's not that I don't like the Gophers ( I don't), but this just happens to be a year where their talent level has dropped significantly. This is what is going to happen to the Badgers next year I believe. I know Minnesota has a talented frosh class coming in, but when all is said and done, they're still going to be wet behind the ears frosh. Fourth in the conference is the best the Gophers can hope for.... Yes indeed, we shall see.

From what I hear, the Badgers will be at full strength when the season starts. Reinecke played in every match on their European trip, as did Jeffers. I believe they'll start the season with their clip fully loaded.....

I hope you are right about Minn having a down year. (ha - a down year is 4th in the Big Ten!)
