I will post scores and info each day after the games so that the parents of these girls don't have to worry that everything is OK. As promised, the few girls that brought cell phone are rarely in an "in service" area, and access to internet for the group is and will be tough.
Update so far:
August 3, Arrival Day Concordia vs. Nicaragua Jr. National Team (3-0: 25, 10, 25, 19, 25-13) Vanguard vs. El Salvador National Team (3-0: 25-15, 25-18, 25-16)
August 4, AM Matches Vanguard vs. Nicaragua Jr. National Team (3-0: 25-14, 25-20, 25-17) Concordia vs. Honduras National Team (2-3: 25-13, 25-18, 13-25, 23-25, 9-15)
We're currently at the "Gallerias Mall" in Managua for the afternoon after visiting Ticapa and the Parque de Paz, and the evening matches (we're California time +1 hour) will be:
6:00pm: Concordia vs. El Salvador 7:30pm: Vanguard vs. Nicaragua National Team
Everyone is safe and doing well, and as I said, I will post updates to this thread as often as possible to keep worried parents informed of how we're doing.

Thank you BIP. We received a short phone call last night just to confirm they all arrived safely but scores and information about activities is awesome. Any photos?

ewabow, We will post photos and player journals on www.bringitusa.com, but not until the tour is over and we have time to do it right. Both Concordia and Vanguard will be posting journals (with photos) on their respective volleyball websites as well, but as we're essentially "disconnected" here, photos won't be sent back or posted during the trip as they are on most of our tours. We're just trying to concentrate on playing and enjoying ourselves as this is only 8 days. No reason to stress too much about technology down here anyway... That's one reason we're here! Thanks for passing the info about this thread on to other parents as we want everyone to know that they can tune in here to get info instead of checking their email inboxes (most of the girls aren't getting online down here) or trying to track their daughters down at the hotels by phone (frowned upon).

I will ask Paula and Erikka to help me post the rosters in the morning. Everyone's already in bed for the night after a long day. They both have big rosters (15 and 17) so I certainly don't have them memorized. We will also post roster info for all foreign teams, with pictures, on www.bringitusa.com in the next few days... As for the schedule, here's what's to come: 5th: Vangaurd plays Honduras at 11:00am and Concordia plays Nicaragua at 7:30pm 6th: Both teams have a day off. Visit to Granada and the islands and then to San Juan del Sur 7th: Vanguard plays Nicaragua in San Juan del Sur at 6:30pm 8th: Concordia play Nicaragua in San Juan del Sur at 6:30pm 9th: Travel Day to San Jose, Costa Rica Schedule from this point on is TBA, but it looks like one team will play the Costa Rican National Team while the other plays the Costa Rican Junior National Team on the 9th in the evening, and then they'll switch on the 10th. 11th: Departure for USA

Concordia lost a barn-burner to the Nicaraguan National Team 2-3 (25-11, 26-28, 25-22, 17-25, 13-15) in front of a fairly packed and raucous crowd to finish 2-2 in Managua.
Both teams will spend the day in the colonial town of Granada tomorrow and then make their way to San Juan del Sur where they will each play the Nicaraguan National Team one more time before heading to Costa Rica.

I saw that many of the girls got online or on the phone last night upon arrival in San Juan del Sur, but for those of you counting on updates here, you'll be happy to know that we had a wonderful dinner at Pelican Eyes last night (http://www.piedrasyolas.com/) and today the girls are already up and on their merry way.
Vanguard is up on the zip-line canopy tour and then will spend the day at Playa Madera.
The Concordia girls split up into "work groups" and are either: Visiting El Oro Pre School and La Cuesta Elementary school delivering school supplies and good cheer; Cleaning and/or painting the local Centro de Salud (Clinic) which is in quite a state of disrepair; Visting outlying schools with the SJDS Mobile Library (delivering books and crayons/paper and spending some time with the children); Visiting NicaDev's (www.nicadev.com) Ec0-Stove/Water Filter Project and engaging in some reforestation down south of town with Donn Wilson and the NicaDev crew. They'll be rewarded with an afternoon at a gorgeous private beach a few miles south of town. Surf lessons for all obviously included.
Vanguard will play the Nicaraguan National Team at 7:00pm here in town and we're expecting quite a crowd.
Concordia plays tomorrow night at 7:00pm (Wednesday) as planned.
