Are they going to be a dud this year again?
A handful of players gone ... including some very important ones. But Rubio has a team stacked with credentials and talent. What do you all think?

I think that Paige Weber is going to be a big upgrade in terms of the setter position, though not so sure about their passing. Losing Baum is going to hurt, especially when you as much as experience as she had. Whitney Dosty is going to be a good player in the Pac-10 for the Wildcats, but lacks the all-around skills to play all the way around - so she'll be like Nicole Fawcett - effective only in the front row. I like Dominique Lamb as their most experienced middle blocker and 6-5 Jacy Norton returns as well. But again, not so sure about their passing and who will step up in that department. Hopefully Arizona can get back on track and contend for a spot in the AVCA Top 25 to push the other Top 5 in the conference (Stanford, UCLA, USC, Washington, and Cal).

With the addition of freshmen OH Tiffany Owens, Arizona should get back in the rankings. Tiffany is a very dynamic player in terms of all-around skills. Not so sure about her passing but I know she played MB couple of years ago. Can't wait to see her play. Goodluck ladies!...

Whitney is not playing to rest her knee that was injured over the summer. Brooke also resting her hitting arm from surgery in off season. They did pretty well without 2 of their best hitters in the lineup.

Not sure I agree with Saki about the setting being a step up. From what I remember, Butkus and Glass were always at odds with each other. One had a huge work ethic, the other did not. So, the commitment to "mesh" was a little short with one of the go to players who basically never lived up to her potential.

Owens looked very impressive today. Very good all around player. The other Freshman setter Weber, looked a little tentative in her first match this morning, but really showed signs of brilliance in the 2nd match. I think both will be future stars at Arizona. It will be interesting when the two injured return to the court. This team will get back in the top 25 for sure.

Whitney is not playing to rest her knee that was injured over the summer. Brooke also resting her hitting arm from surgery in off season. They did pretty well without 2 of their best hitters in the lineup. Dosty was visibly limping around the court and did not participate in any team drills even though she was dressed out. Would have loved to see her play as the last time I saw her she was a senior in high school and I understand she has improved her game dramatically.
