I'm reluctant to have this discussion on this forum because I don't want others to think I'm boasting. I just finished watching the AVCA match on CSTV and was blown away. I'm no expert, nor have I seen anywhere near the number of games others on this board have. It's also was the first game of the year so perhaps my objectivity is off. So help me with the following questions: 1. Did you see any weaknesses? Passing, setting, floor defense? 2. Do the players seem like their hitting harder than last year? I can't but think that they have hit the weights hard and have increased the velocity of their spikes. 3. Was it my imagination or did Lindsey Licht hit the hardest ball of the night? 4. Did Rachel Schwarz play outstanding defense, including serve reception? I didn't see any dropoff between her play and that of Dani Busboom. ? 5. Is Sarah seving tougher than last year? I know it's early, but her serve seens harder and more under control. Larson also seemed to be serving harder. (or have I just forgotten how hard they hit last year?) I'm looking forward to tommorows match against UCLA, but tonight Nebraska seemed much better. (I also saw their game earlier)

1. Did you see any weaknesses? Passing, setting, floor defense? This first match... not really. Larson seems like a much more mature hitter. And all around some really strong hitting by the team. Good blocking too. I saw that too. I think there were a couple by Pavan that looked a bit harder. There was a facial from Pavan, I wouldn't have wanted to take. But I was still like "Damn!" on that Licht kill. I agree. She stepped it up this first game. We'll have to see as the season goes, but she looked great tonight. I still miss Dani. Not sure yet with Pavan. But she did server pretty well. Larson looked to have a lot more control. As she loosens up as the season progresses... ooph.

One thing about John Cook in comparison to other coaches out there..he coaches for the moment..not next year or the year after...NOW...THIS YEAR...after watching the Texas match tonite, seemed more like the coach was preparing for next season, then this one. Nope, you don't fix what ain't broke...and John doesn't.
