www.texassports.com/Hooker had a good weekend, but her numbers are not anywhere as good as Houghtellings. Would love to hear the justification for that. Congrats to Hooker, I just don't know what the criteria is.

"Don't give it to someone from Nebraska every stinking week"?

It should go to whomever deserves it, otherwise it's a joke. I am not saying that in this case, and take nothing away from Hooker who is a marvelous talent. From my perspective in looking at the numbers, Houghtellings performance was superior.

Not sure that is the issue. The award isn't about who is the better player, but rather who had the better "past" week.

Keystone, mind if I ask your team affiliation (whether by school attended, live near by, coach at, etc)? I'm not sure if I've ever seen a post that indicates which is "your" favorite team that you support. From what I gather, we know your a fan of the sport, perhaps of individual players and teams but never a definitive "team X is my favorite". I ask because you give solid opinions and statements about our teams but your somewhat cloaked. Perhaps I am wrong?

There's still a possibility that there were Co-POWs for the conference. The conference hasn't released it and it hasn't appeard on the conference website. Yeah, the article doesn't mention anything about Co-POWs, but there's still a chance. Usually there's no announcement for Conference POW until Tuesday, so I was kind of surprised to see it posted today.

Hooker had more kills, more kills per game, more digs, more digs per game, more aces, more aces per game, more blocks, more blocks per game, more points and more points per game. Houghtelling had a way better hitting %.

BIG 12 conference -- please wait for POW awards until conference games start! These awards have little merit when teams are playing preseason matches.

Ya, I know it's whatever conference trying to get some publicity and hype going, but sometimes their picks are awful.
