Looks like UNLV took the first game 30-20, if Gametracker can be trusted. I knew they would be a problem for the Cougars. They are a very good team.

BYU overrated or UNLV underrated?
What was Pablo's take heading into this match?

How is Sam Noland doing? I saw Sam Noland sit on the bench a lot at Campolindo HS. For the most part she was injured and/or behind more experienced players. Everyone knew she had the size and talent to compete at a high level once she got healthy. Nice to see that she's finally healthy and doing well.

Rich Kern shows that UNLV has a #20 rank. Is that Pablo's ranking. UNLV has been pretty good thus far. I expect them to challenge for the MWC title.

Also interesting. The past two years Utah Colorado St and BYU have been the big guns. But Utah and BYU both lost tonight. I expect the conference to be the most unpredictable with New Mexico, UNLV and San Diego St competing for top spots.

It is definitely not a good night for Wisconsin's strength of schedule, not good to begin with, as BYU and Loyola Marymount both lose on the road.

i knew UNLV would be good this season, but I didn't think they would knock out BYU in 3. I'm impressed. If they keep this going, they'll be 1st or 2nd in the conference. and SDSU just beat Utah tonight, so a win over Utah should be expected for UNLV. Finally a new team might take over the conference instead of having utah, csu, and byu making it to the tournament every year.

Yes, I would say the Mountain West is up for grabs. I'm predicting UNLV or Colo State on top. They should send thank you cards to Ariel Salvo and Sydney Anderson.

AWESOME ! Wish I could have been there. Heard BYU lacked defense. Don't know why they are not using Amy S. as setter. Congrats to Moran ( transfer from Hurricane Katrina ) for hitting 9 - 9 for 1.000. Also UNLV setter Melody Nua for 3 times MVP this year. Lauren Miramontes had her usual great game. And Sam Noland is improving every game and so much stronger this year. It helps that everyone is healthy except Brittany L. When she gets back they will have another hitter. And with Jada and Camille digging like crazy this team could win the conference !!
