We made the drive to match and it was well worth it. What a difference a year makes! Great to see the ladies compete so hard. The defense was spectacular. We're coming back Saturday!

I could hardly believe my eyes!! ;D It was good to see the Tiger women play volleyball again. I don't know WHAT they were playing last year .... The setter from Utah seems to have made a huge impact on the team. One of the former players, Molly Mourdant, is back in an assistant coach position.

Pacific Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach Jessica Kaven, Named Head Coach of Cabrillo College
Kaven will also serve as an adjunct professor
Feb. 15, 2007
Stockton, Calif. - Pacific Women's Volleyball Assistant Coach Jessica Kaven has accepted the head coaching position at Cabrillo College in Aptos, Calif. Kaven will also serve as an adjunct professor at Cabrillo.
"I have enjoyed my time at Pacific immensely, but this was an opportunity, both professionally and personally that I could not pass up," said Kaven.
In her first season with the Tigers, Kaven helped lead the Tigers to an 8-21 record. Jessica served under head coach Charlie Wade, who coached Kaven in college at Hawai'i (1996-2000) and at the club level.
Before coming to Pacific, Kaven had a remarkable coaching and playing career. In 2005, Jessica was an assistant coach at Foothill College and was a coach of the Vision Volleyball Club. Under Kaven's leadership, the club team qualified for the Junior Olympics. That accomplishment was the second time, Kaven guided her club team to the Junior Olympics as she also took Club Yahoo to that height in both 2003 and 2004.
A native of Yorba Linda, Calif., Jessica's playing career began in earnest as she was a member of the Magnum Volleyball Club. At the time, Kaven was coached by Wade. The team of Kaven and Wade helped the Magnum Volleyball Club qualify for the Junior Olympics.Jessica went on to play on the Junior National Team in 1996 and eventually joined Wade at the University of Hawai'i for her collegiate career from 1997-2000.
Kaven was one of the most decorated players in Hawai'i history, earning All-WAC (Western Athletic Conference) First Team honors in each of her four years at Hawai'i. Jessica was an All-Region athlete in 1998, 1999 and 2000 and led the Rainbow Wahine to the Final Four in 2000. Kaven finished her career at Hawai'i with over 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs.
Following her collegiate career, Jessica played professionally in Puerto Rico in 2001 for Moca team. She also played on the AVP Tour (Professional Beach Volleyball) in 2003.
In addition to her on-the-court accomplishments, Jessica was a four-time Scholar-Athlete at Hawai'i, earning her bachelors degree in communication in 2001. Kaven went on to earn her Masters in communication from San Jose State in 2005. Kaven used her academic accomplishments to teach as she was an adjunct faculty member for San Jose State, Foothill College, De Anza College and Ohlone College in 2005.
Jessica married Ole Kaven in August of 2005. The couple currently resides in San Jose, Calif.
"Jessica is someone I've known for over 13 years and I will miss her input both as a coach and as a friend," said Wade.
