wow.. after watching the first week of of play i could not think of any conference with a better collection of setters. Arizona has Webber, Cal has Lloyd, USC has Carico, UCLA has the great Spicer, Stanford with Kehoe, Washington with Haaglund and Oregon with Djordjevic and Morris.. and OSU with kc walsh.

imagine how good the pac 10 will be again next year. losing kehoe is huge but all the other setters are returning and I have a feeling the Murphy will be coming to stanford next year. with bateman and Adams(mB) going to USC and Murrey would go to Cal to replace Pressey. UCLA loses Johnson but gets Gil and an international MB, oregon returns its lineup intact. washington loses Morrison but gets a prize recruit plus Salvo. arizona should get Dosty back.

I'm impressed with Lloyd of Cal especially against Minnesota but I think she got rattled and made poor decisions against Stanford especially in game 3. Stanford loses a great, record-setting setter in Kehoe next year but hopefully reloads with Murphy.

I think that if she has not chosen a college yet, its leaning towards stanford. remember stanford cannot just offer a scholarship. they need to be admitted and qualified before they can offer an scholie

Stanford also has Joanna Evans who was setter #2 behind Holloway with JNT and who could start in most other programs. Would be interesting to see which position Murphy will play if she goes to Stanford - they could run a modified 6-2 with Evans/Waller alternating or a true 6-2 with Lichtman.

Evans hasn't exactly inspired confidence when she has replaced Kehoe. The last time I saw her, she had replaced Kehoe when Stanford had a big lead against Cal Poly. That lead evaporated pretty quickly. But to be fair, Dunning also brought in Fischer, Lichtman, and Janet O. at approx. the same time. I would think if Murphy is a really a solid setter, then going 5-1 is better because a lefthanded 6'2" setter can really wreak havoc with "over on 2 balls." Now, if Murphy is just your run of the mill college setter, then a 6-2 with Lichtman seems more plausible.

What if Murphy DOESN'T COME TO THE PAC10. Aren't you all putting the cart before the horse. Every #1 recruit doesn't want to come to the west. Case in point is Megan Hodge. Look at what she does for Big 10 power Penn St. Murphy could be looking to go to a school where she can have that kind of impact.

Volleysean27, who is this international MB going to UCLA next year, and where do you get your info?

Info was posted here on a previous thread. Can't remember if it was about a thread on international players or who posted it. She's a 6'6 Korean who is only considering Hawaii or one of the L.A. schools and speculation/rumor is UCLA for the L.A. school. UCLA is not a lock for her but admission requirements (esp. for international students) will be tougher than USC for sure. That's all I remember.

I thought someone post about the Korean MB thing as a harmless joke. Anyway, UCLA is without any scholarship for next year. If Murrey commits, it is speculated that Katie Camp may walk on for her first year since all 12 scholarships were filled (Spicer, Daley, Sather, Carstensen, Holloway,Clements, Mills, Nucci, McGraw, Sage, Gil and Camp)

Amazing.
The best conference in the country has the best setters in the country.
Who would've thunk it?

What about Big 12? Holloway takes a back seat to nobody, and Moriarty is, I'm sure first rate. What about the others?

What about Big 12? Holloway takes a back seat to nobody, and Moriarty is, I'm sure first rate. What about the others? Last season Holloway wasn't quite the setter of Thompson, Spicer, and Kehoe....and this year I still think Spicer and Kehoe are better....so yes Holloway does take a back to seat to a couple. the difference is that she has 4 top notch hitters (Pavan, Larson, Houghtelling, Stalls) to put the ball away while Stanford has 3 (Barboza, Akinradewo, Klineman) and UCLA has...well none really.
