Let me surprise and delight bigfan, ay2013, and many others by conceding the point. This year is a little closer, but last year for sure the PAC setters were far better than the other top conferences.

What about Big 12? Holloway takes a back seat to nobody, and Moriarty is, I'm sure first rate. What about the others? Last season Holloway wasn't quite the setter of Thompson, Spicer, and Kehoe....and this year I still think Spicer and Kehoe are better....so yes Holloway does take a back to seat to a couple. the difference is that she has 4 top notch hitters (Pavan, Larson, Houghtelling, Stalls) to put the ball away while Stanford has 3 (Barboza, Akinradewo, Klineman) and UCLA has...well none really. You forgot Cooper in that group as well. NU has all five starting front line players hitting over .300 with Cooper & Stalls hitting over .400. The team is hitting .337 & the other 5 starters are averaging at least 2.48 k/g. None of the Pac 10 setters can boast that.

Those are impressive numbers and Holloway is very very good, but those stats have more to do with Cook & Co.'s skill at recruiting and training attackers.

It is all the skill of the attacker & none of it is due to the setter's skill. Cook evidently is a much better coach than what any of the Pac 10 coaches are since he can recruit & train better attackers than what they can .

Yes Holloway is a great setter...but just imagine the numbers Nebraska hitters would have if the smooth setting Spicer was running the offense. honestly this year Spicer is wasting her talents at UCLA. What's the point of a great setter if there is no one to terminate. You know what where Spicer would really shine is Penn State. Actually, I think that if Spicer ran Penn State's current offense they would have beat Stanford and at least went the distance with Nebraska.... Oh and Nebraska's hitters have the luxury of having high hitting numbers because of their vast number of offensive weapons. If you look at teams with only a couple big name hitters, the opposing teams blockers single them out. Where as when team face nebraska they can't decide whether or not to post a triple block up on the outside hitter, opp, or middle because all 3 are top notch and the ball moves pretty fast. I'd be disappointed if those NU players DIDIN'T have high hitting percentages
