With all the NCAA professional rules being made up as the NCAA goes along.....does anyone know if D1 players can play beach volleyball this summer?
I have figured out that no pro/ams are allowed...but are we allowed to play in tournaments? (How do i know if the other team members ever played pro?) Can I accept a t-shirt or any other entering prize? If there is an entry fee of $$....do I have to change my name to pay and play?

You're allowed to accept a t-shirt (or other similar prize) if you win, just as long as it isn't cash! It used to be that the prize had to be valued at under $25, but I'm not sure if that exists anymore (and I might have just 'dated' myself with that reference). As for an entry fee, that isn't a problem. You're allowed to pay an entry fee, it's the same with indoor. Think about all the collegiate players/teams that go to USA Adult Nationals (which is Memorial Day weekend in Atlanta this year) or play USAV during the spring. They have to be USAV members (thus, pay a fee) and enter the tournament (which again, is a fee). They wouldn't do this if it jeopardized their collegiate elligibility. So, don't "panic" about playing beach this summer! Just make sure you're playing in an amateur event (ie. - no "challenge matches" against Kerri and Misty) and don't accept any cash for winning. Hope that helps! ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Geez, what about the Manhappen open which is a crazy, drunken volleyball orgy where pros, collegians and anyone who is tall often form a team to go out, sometimes dress in drag, and play together? And have since the ball was invented. Of course they can't see straight, but there are teams where so-called pros are on the court with collegians. It's all in fun and not too many take it seriously.
