UW takes the first two games, 30-26 and 30-19. Gametracker is way behind... but there is live audio from CTSV

If Wisconsin doesn't sweep, there's trouble in Madison. Ohio State swept MSU and just got crushed by Indiana 30-19 in Game 1.
...and speaking of MSU/UW, Mark Dantonio needs to be run out of E. Lansing on a rail for calling that last offensive play. That was some seriously awful coaching.

Well, UW didn't sweep... or win yet... 2-1 UW, MSU takes game three 30-26 or so...
OSU is in much more disarray than UW is.

13 blocks? Was that MSU's game plan? Wear out Reineke's hands?

13 blocks? Was that MSU's game plan? Wear out Reineke's hands? Who knows, it very well may have been. MSU is a hot mess this year. They should be playing so much better than they are. It's too bad MSU lost their returning setter this year-- I imagine they'd be a much better team with her playing. Although to MSU's credit they are spreading the ball around more with all five hitters having more than 20 attacks. Their libero has 6 digs in a 4 game match and their M1 is the digs leader? I honestly didn't think losing Colaluca would be as huge as its turned out to be.

I honestly didn't think losing Colaluca would be as huge as its turned out to be. MSU is really demonstrating that the setter and libero are the two most important positions on the floor. The loss of Ianni and Colaluca has been huge. Two good outsides means nothing without strength in those positions; MSU needs to step up on defense. I don't know if Vander Meer would have been much of an improvement over O'Reilly. The upside: Jessica Hohl and Vanessa King have been playing better, so maybe O'Reilly is beginning to connect better with the middles. Sadly, I think it will be at least two years until MSU makes another NCAA tournament. Also, it is a bad sign when your setter leads your team in blocks for a match.

I guess Reineke and company must have been less than pleased with their subpar blocking against the outsides of Northwestern. The 13 blocks is a career high for Reineke. I am glad the Badger defense must have returned for this one. Unfortunately, the offense wasn't as good as the night before from the stats. Still, they got a win on the road when Dolgner didn't have a great match. DuPont played well, so it looks like the L2 controversy is back. I wish someone would nail that spot down, but I guess it is okay as long as someone does well. Dykstra had another solid match with 11 kills and seven blocks.
For MSU, it looks like they got pretty good set distribution, but they didn't hit well. Johnson isn't having a good year, which hurts. Also, middles really shouldn't hit negative. They really need to get some conference wins to build confidence.
I am glad the Badgers will finally return home; month plus long road trips during the season are not fun for fans. Still, I guess opening with four on the road is good when you end up 4-0. I would have liked them to get sweeps, but if you get injury free road wins, you take them. Also, the Badgers did dominate two of the games, so that is a good sign.

I'll be glad to have the Badgers back here in Madison. They really are to be commended for having completed this ten game road trip with only a single loss.. Frankly, I was worried that a schedule like this might would give the team an opportunity to play an off match or two as the perennial visiting team, but it seems that while a player or two might have the off match, this year's edition of the Badgers has enough talent "pick up the slack".
