As I said before(most of you probably won't remember...why should you) each Big West match for Cal State Northridge is a BIG, BIG match for them. Yeah I wanted them to have a victory last night and now expecting them to have one tonight against UC Santa Barbara but CSUN can possibly go 1-1 this weekend(just like last weekend). This match is big and it ain't gonna be easy it never is when we play against UCSB and I know that UCSB will really be playing with fire after they lost to LBSU last night.
History can be made tonight if CSUN defeats UCSB because CSUN has never ever swept UCSB and why not do it tonight? Both teams are struggling for different reasons(although it seems UCSB has been doing that for the past three years) so it should be a good match as to see which team(hopefully CSUN) will plays solid and consistent will end up winning the match.
I think it would be great to see CSUN sweep UCSB. Of course the ever faithful Gaucho fans would find that unimaginable and would gag thinking about such a thing ever happening. Anything can happen in the Big West and it has been since '02.
What team will not crack, play an all-around good game and who will choke? Hopefully not CSUN
Matadores de buena suerte!
Go Matadors!
-oh yeah...Matadors in five second prediction Matadors win in four

Here's an article from CSUN's paper about the first match-up between CSUN at UCSB
CSUN wins Big West opener against UCSB Matadors beat Gauchos at the Thunderdome, lose on Saturday to No. 20 Cal Poly at Mott Gym Ivan Yeo Issue date: 9/26/07
The CSUN women's volleyball team had a tale of two games in its trip up the Central Coast this past weekend.
The Matadors opened up Big West Conference play with a bang on Friday night, upsetting the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos in five games at the Thunderdome, but their trip to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo the next day was a far different story, as the Mustangs swept the Matadors out of Mott Gymnasium.
Against Santa Barbara, the Matadors made a statement right away, winning the first game 30-24, but the Gauchos charged right back, winning game two convincingly 30-16 and game three decisively 30-25. CSUN, however, rebounded to win game four 30-27, then took a 13-8 lead in the fifth game. Santa Barbara made one last charge, winning the next five sets of the game. The Matadors didn't buckle however, as kills from junior setter Kayla Wright and freshman outside hitter Brittany Williams sealed CSUN's first win over the Gauchos since Oct. 4, 2003.
"It's a great win in the sense that we've never won up there in the history of the program, so we're real happy about that," head coach Jeff Stork said. "I thought we played well a majority of the time."
Sophomore outside hitter Angela Hupp led the Matadors with 14 kills and 23 assists, junior outside hitter Kristy Nua had 12 kills and Williams and junior middle blocker Val Kepler had 10 kills apiece. Wright had 23 assists, junior libero Amy Hultner had 24 digs and freshman outside hitter Alex Johnson had 11 digs. CSUN's defense also came to play, as the Matadors collected 21 blocks compared to seven for the Gauchos. The Matadors also had a better hitting percentage (.239) than the Gauchos (.192).
For the Gauchos, junior outside hitter Lauren McLaughlin scored her 11th double-double of this young season with 17 kills and 15 digs. Sophomore Rebecca Saraceno also had a double-double, her seventh of the season with 15 kills and 11 digs. Senior middle blocker Brett Quirarte knocked down 14 kills and freshman Stacey Schmidt had 13 kills.
CSUN hoped to stage a repeat performance on Saturday against Cal Poly, but the Matadors quickly found out why the Mustangs are ranked 20th in the nation, as Cal Poly swept the Matadors by scores of 30-23, 30-22 and 30-18.
Kepler had a team-high nine kills while hitting .400, but the Matadors as a team only hit .108. Hupp and Wright both had 16 assists and junior Kelley Hanson had 10 digs.
Good luck Matadors!

UCSB wins Game 1 30-21 CSUN wins Game 2 16-30 Thia was maybe the worst I have ever seen a UCSB team play in a single game. We were blocked 11 times in this one game. UCSB wins Game 3 30-21

there goes another team that traditionally makes the NCAA drop off the radar. So that makes it Stanford and Penn State as the only 2 schools that has made it to every single post-season so far?

If the Gauchos don't make it, Yes. Streaks are made to be broken, though... before the Gauchos took out the Card in 2000, Stanford was the only team to have made every Sweet 16.

Hasn't Nebraska made every post season too? nah, there are only three teams that have made it every year since the tournament started in 1980, UCSB, Stanford and PSU. I don't think nebraska even started women's volleyball until 83 or so

Hasn't Nebraska made every post season too? Though Terry Pettit had been on board for several years, Nebraska missed the first NCAA tournament in 1981. They've made every one since then. The last two schools to drop off the list of making every tournament are UCLA (whose 9-9 Pac-10 record in 1996 was not quite enough in that year's smaller tournament field... they'd have made a 64-team field) and Pacific (several years ago).
