why dont the US men compete in World League anymore?
i'm assuming it's because of money but is WL really THAT expensive?

I had heard when they first dropped out it was because of funding. I can imagine that it does get costly, with travelling all over the world with all of those men. Plus, I think that the US had not had the greatest of results in the past with WL before they had dropped out, so maybe they thought that they would not get as much in return with prize money.

I read some time ago that it costs the US about $1 million to compete in the world league and that this money can be better spent on volleyball development programs. There is just not enough to go around for both. Let's get some sponsors. :-)

Poor results in World League? Maybe in 1993, when the US men went 0 & 12.
But in 2000, the US men were undefeated in the World League regular season.
It's strictly a money issue. And not getting that vital competition in WL, especially in an Olympic year, hurts.
