Just saw the CSU sweep of BYU on CSTV and I must say I feel sorry for Chelsea Goodman being on BYU's team. Goodman is a BEAST on the court. Fiery and powerful. She had so many plays that left me speechless. BYU however, is just underachieving so badly right now though. On a better team she would probably make second team AA, but now BYU might not even make it into the NCAA Tournament. Does anyone think BYU will make it? Because honestly, I don't. The win over Wisconsin is great, but losing to Cal Poly, New Mexico, CSU twice, and UNLV and dropping out of the rankings really puts them in a hole.
I was glad to see Schlauder play in this match. She always impressed me last year. I think Erica Lott could have been set more and Porter less. I don't know why Watson loves Brynn so much. She's a good player, but not great.
For CSU, Minch finally impressed me. She had some monster swings. When CSU played Utah on CSTV she looked like the type of OH just there to keep it in play, and her stats throughout the season were lackluster but in this match she came through. She's pretty darn cute too. And Mokelki was phenomenal. Barnes seemed to struggle though and wasn't the dominant player she usually is. It was obviously the Tonya Mokelki show for CSU in the match.

Right now, it looks like BYU peaked on Labor Day weekend, which isn't a good thing.

I guess he could move Erica to OH. Brynn has done a lot better this year than I thought she would. It's a shame Chelsea didn't red shirt her freshman year. BYU will not be fun to watch next year when Chelsea and Erica are gone. I agree-they may not make the NCAA tournament unless they win the Mtn West tourney. IMHO this team has chemistry problems. I've heard they have a lot of "players only" meetings.

On the positive side for them, the Big Ten and Big 12 are train wrecks, so those leagues might not get as many bids as in some years. Also, UCSB and Notre Dame look like they are out at the moment, so there are two more open bids that weren't there in previous years. Of course, BYU can control their destiny by winning more.

Will BYU make it to the NCAAs?
Yeah. Finishing higher 3rd of better should do it.
Colorado State, UNLV, BYU, and maybe Utah.

I think Erica Lott could have been set more and Porter less. Barnes seemed to struggle though and wasn't the dominant player she usually is. I think Lott has a ton of potentional, but I don't see it coming through in the clutch - she hit out for the Rams win in game 2 and served out for the Rams win in game 3. That is not what you want on the left side, IMHO. I looked at the stats and Barnes wasn't really dominant - she and Lott had almost identical stats. If one or the other had been a little more on, the match would've been a lot different. On the stats, Barnes was back to form against Utah - 16 kills, 1 error, 30 swings, with 10 blocks, and ace and a pair of digs.
