For the third time this season, the Plataneros de Corozal and the Changos de Naranjito will stage the famous battle of the mountain in the aviary of the Changos tonight at 8:30 o'clock p.m.
In contrast to the previous duels, this match will raise different questions. Regardless of who will win the sixth place spot, the Plataneros of Corozal as well as the Changos of Naranjito carry a heavy burden as result of two previous losses for Corozal and three losses for the black birds.
"To win against Naranjito we will need to make the right decisions at the right moments, to force the plays and to play with force, intensity, and desire during the whole match. The blocks should be consistant in order to counter the athleticism of the Changos", Javier Gaspar, choach of the Plataneros of Corozal stated.
For Gaspar the matches of the season have had their high and low because of the inconsistent play of the Plataneros during the season.
"Corozal has also been inconsistent. One moment it was the hottest team of the tournament and the next it was not very consistent because of the difficulties that all the teams have had in some way or another. The team has had its high and low moments, Gaspar said.
The goal for Gaspar and his players is to successfully face the next two challenges against the Vaqueros de Bayamón and the Playeros de San Juan since slacking off in either match would make it difficult to earn a spot in the Round Robin of the playoffs.
"We have to raise our level of play in order to win at least two of the last three matches we have left in order to control our own destiny and not to create the possibility that another team is able to enter the ' round robin, Gaspar added, addressing the team's future. At the moment the Changos are tied for the fourth position with the Rebeldes de Moca.
On the other hand, the Changos of Naranjito will stress the basic foundations of the game in order to return to a winning streak.
"We should increase the level of play, to add aggressive serves and a good passing to be able to lead offensively. It is necessary to pass well to counter the other's blocking, Corozal's, Enrique " Quique" Ruiz, the coach of the Changos de Naranjito stated.
"With good passing we can generate a good offensive attack. If we are able to correct the foundation errors, we should not have any problem", the captain of the Changos explained after stating that Luis " Feñito " Rodríguez will be back for the match.
