Some television reports say that he was in a traffic accident (fender bender, I assume) with the lady and her husband/boyfriend. There was an ensuing argument where he accusedly slapped the pregnant lady. He then was arrested and reportedly resisted arrest. I can understand that he was probably being harassed by the locals who probably thought he was a rich basketball player and ran into him for the money. The police are probably in on it too.

Wow, we certainly have a lot of time on our hands to speculate so much on this topic. Well how about this, the nation of Greece is still in stunned disbelief after blowing their Olympic opportunity against the US. The whole incident with Stanley is a set up to pay the US back for robbing them of the opportunity to move on to the medal rounds. And I heard that Costas Theocharidis set the whole thing up from Hawaii. He contacted Sonny who sent the word out to Jason. Jason hired Emily and Nickolas to wait outside of the cafe where the US men were dining... Sorry, got carried away. How about we just wait until tomorrow to see what happens and I'm sure more details will be released.

I thought he was busy selling investment vehicles and annuities along with Dejan for a company in Honolulu? It's a good conspiracy theory, though. And I'm a big sucker for conspiracy theories. ;D

SOBB: Costas' "career" is just a front. He's a Greek mafia kingpin.

Because of Costas' involvement in this conspiracy theory, the NCAA has also voted to strip Greece of all 17 medals won during these Olympic games.

For all we know, maybe he never even touched her. You know how dramatic women can be... A Greek woman? An 8 month pregnant Greek woman at that... ooooh, I say the drama ratio is very high... I should know, having the Papadakis' living behind us while growing up.....if their dog goes out on an unsupervised neighborhood stroll, Mrs. Papadakis panics, notifies the whole neighborhood "those damn Tongans, they eat my dog!"

I guess Stanley was in court today. The article at vb.it talks about it but the English translation did not make sense. Anybody who reads Italian, an interpretation is appreciated... www.volleyball.it/notizie.asp?ID=21733

The charges of slapping the pregnant lady were dropped.

Here's what I just saw on Yahoo News: story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040901/ap_on_sp_ol/oly_volleyballer_sentenced_1U.S. Volleyballer Gets Suspended Sentence Wed Sep 1, 11:35 AM ET ATHENS, Greece - A U.S. Olympic volleyball player was given a 15-month suspended sentence Wednesday for assaulting an officer and resisting arrest. Clay Stanley, who lives in Greece and plays for a local team, said he was drunk at the time and apologized for Sunday's scuffle at a nightclub following the closing ceremony of the Olympics. Stanley was also charged with assaulting a pregnant woman during the scuffle but those charges were subsequently dropped.

Thanks! That's what I thought the translation said but was not sure and did not want to speculate...
