Bruins Sweep Anteaters in Final Exhibition Vince slams 11 kills in impressive outing. Nov. 14, 2004 The UCLA men's volleyball team finished its exhibition season unbeaten with a three-game sweep of visiting UC Irvine on Saturday. UCLA looked strong despite starting a true freshman, a redshirt freshman and a sophmore. Their more mature middles and outsides dominated the younger UCI team. The bruins look to be a contender this year. The freshmen, Ker and Acevedo easily outplayed their conterparts. Klosterman was solid all around. Is there another opposite who even passes? The only chink in the armor was some inconsistant passing by Krushaur and/or Scott. UCLA is deep at every position and actually gets bigger with its reserves. UCI on the other hand is going to have a long season. There is no leadership on the court and no hitter calling for the ball. Losing the last 7 points of the third game says more about this team than any other stat. Unfortunately Speraw has nowhere to go. None of the true freshmen are ready and his first OH off the bench is 6'1". It will take a couple of years for him to close the talent gap between these two schools.

Didn't get to see the match but heard that Kraushaar injured his ankle a few days before the match. Really shouldn't have played that night. Hopefully, with a long rest until the Dec. 26 practice, he will pass even better than he did last year. With more upcoming court experience, Scott will too. It should be a good season for the Bruins.

I have to agree that "Krush" didn't look like himself out there. I thought something was wrong.
