In two separate speeches in the past couple of weeks GW has talked about "some people don't think brown-skinned people can have a democracy" and "some people think people whose skin is not our color cannot have a democracy."
First of all, who the hell are these people saying these things?
Secondly, does he honestly think America is WHITE?
One of the quotes:
"There's a lot of people in the world who don't believe that people whose skin color may not be the same as ours can be free and self-govern. I reject that. I reject that strongly. I believe that people who practice the Muslim faith can self-govern. I believe that people whose skins aren't necessarily -- are a different color than white can self-govern."
What the...?

It means he needs better speech writers or editors or at least needs to use them before making such statements.
A problem I have with the whole issue is in trying to figure out what give us the right to determine the type of government under which another country is run.

God. I just saw this post. I'm surprised this hasn't caused more of a furor. That's just ridiculous. Where were Colin and Condoleeza when he was saying that? Speaking of Colin, am I the only one who thinks that Colin seems embarrassed to be there sometimes?

Or, Bush needs to read it first before he utters them to the public. >-(Gorf)-<[} link=board=news&thread=1084406475&start=1#0 date=1084407279]A problem I have with the whole issue is in trying to figure out what give us the right to determine the type of government under which another country is run. Isn't this essentially Star Trek's Non-interference policy? The Enterprise isn't allowed to interfere with the normal course of development of a galaxy/civilization/planet. There's a special term they used on the show. I can't remember what it is.

It's called the "Prime Thingie." Oh yes! That's it! Prime directive. Thanks.
