Well, the race is over and it was fun watching.
The final 3 in their order of finish:
1) Chip and Kim 2) Colin and Christie 3) Brandon and Nicole
Sometimes coming in last has it's benefits in pursuit of the ultimate prize. Just ask Chip and Kim.

I'll tell you, I thought they were done in Calgary. I started cheering for Brandon and Nicole when Chip and Kim fell way behind. What I coudn't understand was when Chip/Kim got up early to get their tickets for UA, why did they stick around the counter? I'd say get the tickets, then leave so the other teams would not see them. And I nearly wetted my pants when I saw Nicole bawling on bike ride down the hill. I'd be scared too, but not to the point of crying hysterically. Maybe fatigue played a role in all this. Felt bad for the moms getting eliminated in the 12th leg. But when they had only a slight lead over Colin/Christie at the wall....you know its over. Congrats to Chip and Kim. After Marsha and her dad got eliminated I had to cheer for these two. 10 months until the next season? Oh, did you hear? Colin proposed to Christie on the Early Show this morning. Didn't think they would last after what I saw in the race. Brandon has not proposed to Nicole yet...and for some reason I don't think he will (specially after his comment about thinking about re-evaluating their relationship on last nights finale).

That was an incredible 2-hour finale!
As far as the on-camera proposal from Colin to Christie, isn't it getting old now. Every thyme (time?) I see someone propose marriage to someone else in public (e.g., TV, baseball game, shopping mall), I'm thinking -- dying for attention, eh?
Oh, brother...
Lame. Come up with something original please.

I'm not sure I could have made it up the wall any faster than the mom. Some of the stuff they did throughout the show I liked...wouldn't mind trying it. Specially the sky diving in UAE, sledging (?), rolling ball, and climbing up to the bridge in NZ, parachuting in Argentina....all pretty cool. Not sure about the caviar or ostrich egg....I nearly heaved during those episodes. <blech>
As for Colin, probably trying to better his image after looking like a horse's arse throughout the race. But you're right, its overdone unless if its Christie rejecting his proposal.

Except just when you get to thinking he's a total arse he turns around and does something unexpected to make you wonder. Chip and Kim put the road block on Colin and Christie in a backstabbing move after acting like their friends. Colin and Christie refused to use the road block at least once earlier in the series with Colin saying something like "I'm not going to try to scr*w anyone like that". He was certainly arrogant and make plenty of stupid comments and choices but he was at least straight forward about his attitudes.

Chip and Kim put the road block on Colin and Christie in a backstabbing move after acting like their friends. At first I thought the yield was poorly used knowing that there was one more non-elimination round and the 11th leg was definitely it. But seeing that there wasn't a yield in the 12th leg, then I guess it was ok. Besides, if Chip/Kim had not arrived to the yield first, Brandon/Nicole or the Bowling Moms would have yielded Colin/Christie anyway. I believe they (at least Chip/Kim and Brandon/Nicole) conspired to yield Colin/Christie while they were travelling in a taxi to the yield. "Touching down in Manila, Chip & Kim took the early lead in a taxi out of the airport, followed by Brandon & Nicole and Linda & Karen. Exiting the airport in an unfamiliar last place, dating couple Colin & Christie tried to erase their deficit on the way to Malaguena Motors, but the other three Teams had one thing on their minds: using the Yield. In the taxi, Chip remarked, "Colin & Christie are like the Los Angeles Lakers. They are the best." Brandon added, "Everybody wants to see the most intense competition go." With Colin & Christie still in traffic, the other three Teams all arrived at Malaguena Motors, frantically searching for the Yield before the dating couple showed up. After Linda spotted the Yield sign, Chip & Kim stepped onto the mat and yielded Colin & Christie." Kinda makes me wonder if the Bowling Moms and Brandon/Nicole intentionally let Chip issue the yield. And Chip's explanation was right on... Colin/Christie were too good and they had to be slowed down some how. A lot of good it did them. Colin/Christie actually ended up with more money than the other teams in the Philippines. I think the rest of the teams started with $17, and I heard at least one person gave Christie a $20 bill. And Colin did say that he didn't want to "scr*w anyone like that"....at least not yet. Colin knew it was too early to use the yield when there were potentially more yields for payback.

I love the show, but the none-elimination points and equalizers ruin the show.
