First game goes to Hawaii 30-18. The Matadors are really struggling. They are only hitting .147 last I heard to Hawaii's .417.
CSUN's libero, Sebastian Pedroza, is in Florida on personal business. Hansen and Rhodes are hurt, but playing.
One bright spot is that CSUN only had three service aces in the first game.

Game 2 goes to Hawaii 30-21.
Campbell continues to make line-up changes to try to find something that works.
Brian Waite is not struggling as much tonight. That is a good thing for the Matadors or it would even be worse.
Hawaii hit .531 in game two to CSUN's .200.
10 minute intermission . . . we will see what team shows up after intermission . . .

Hawaii wins game three 30-22.
Another lousy outing for the Matadors. They need to turn things around quickly as they head onto the road for Pacific and Stanford. Neither one of those teams will be a pushover!

Finally watched the match. It was a good outing by the Warriors. Hawaii is starting to look like a system. You can see the players starting to understand how each contributes to the team. Serving has improved, even though there were 10 service errors. Most of those errors came from the jump servers. Azenha had 4 but gave Northridge fits with his serve. A good number of free balls came back to Hawaii off of his serve.
Beckwith is a good setter (not a great setter) but he is getting the job done. If he contines to improve this season, he has the potential to be very good. He did some damage to the Northridge defense. He gave the Hawaii hitters a lot of one on ones. Good to see La Barre in the offense. Dante could get a few more sets, but I like how he rode Azenha from game 2. Azenha was hot and Beckwith kept setting him. Good selection choses by Beckwith.
Defensively, Hawaii has a lot to be happy about. Hawaii did a very good job digging and blocking. The transition game looked very good. But Northridge wasn't hitting with the authority they could have. Hanson was still being bothered by his injury. Hawaii couldn't stop Waite but they didn't really worry too much about him. Hawaii's serves took the middles out during part of the match and that left them to focus on really bothering the outsides. Waite did a very good job in playing his part. He really hit the ball down with authority and probably could have hit for a higher percentage with support from his cast.
Northridge can be a scary team. This is a team I don't want Hawaii seeing later on. The biggest problem in Hawaii was serving. I don't understand what the problem was. One ace in the beginning of game 1 and that was it. They need to find a good mix of hard and easy serves. They either served the ball so hard that they made an error or too easy that Hawaii had no problems making a transition. Once they fix their serving and everyone gets healthy, Northridge should do well in the MPSF.
