Hey Barefoot, I enjoy bantering with loyal fans, and I find the Hawaii fans are the most adamant and die-hard. It's way too early to crown the Final Winner (although I predicted Pep will do it). It seems that I'm pretty good at predicting matches, BUT when it comes to Hawaii, those are my only errors. Last year, Hawaii proved me wrong in the final. This year, my only two errors invloved Hawaii. UH has great games and then sometimes they go into "the tank." They're lacking the consistency this year, but hopefully they'll get it together by tournament time (I'm sure they will). I want my revenge, and also Bookum's Hawaiian shirt. Incidentally, I think the Bows will lose a number of games in the next few weeks. We'll see. Thats true, VB. I never noticed it until now but almost all of your predictions that turned out to be wrong were the ones about Hawaii. Even last year, you were correct with just about everything but Hawaii. And the same holds true this year. Maybe if you want Pepperdine to win it this year, you should predict that Hawaii will win the title over Pepperdine. (just kidding) In all honestly, did you predict UCSB over BYU or did you predict a series sweep? I can't remember what you guessed but if you predicted the sweep, thats another one wrong. But all in all, if I were a betting man, I would put my money on your predictions.

I tend to agree with Roy, VBCrusin. Given your prediction History with Hawai'i matches, I'd like it very much if you predicted a Hawai'i Victory in the Championships, provided the Warriors make it that far . You're right, you're good at predicting matches, as is MvDad. Just out of curiosity what will you give to Bookum when you lose... cough *... cough *.. ahem, I mean if you lose your bet with him .

Hi Roy...ALWAYS enjoy your slant on things. This week I was 9 - 1(mbdad was 10 - 0)...Sorry, but I overlooked and failed to post BYU vs Santa Barbara. If I had, I probably would have chosen a BYU sweep(then I would be 10 - 2), but since I didn't, Hawaii will be my only losses. Hey Roy, don't you live in Montana or Wyoming? Are you up on the MPSF to join my Prediction Contest, or would you join Roofan to predict the EIVA & MIVA? As far as Hawaii goes, last year's Final was a good match, BUT their Warrior mascot and his tribe took unfair advantage by winning over the crowds. If he shows up again, I'm going to get out there myself in a grass skirt, and...on second thought, forget it. I did get a lot of "ribbing" when UH beat Pep last year, but heyyyyyy...I can take it. I look forward to your posts. Now to Barefoot... Hey Barefoot (loyal Hawaii Fan), You're right also...at times my Hawaii predictions suck, almost as bad as Hawaii does sometimes. If you remember last year, I predicted that Hawaii would sweep UCLA, and everyone laughed. Hawaii did kick their top ranked butts. The trouble with UH is that I never know "which" UH team will show up at their match. They haven't been too consistent in their play this year, but never fail, I ALREADY predicted that Pep & Hawaii will be going to the Final Four this year (barring any major injuries). But first, we have some great matches still to play. Poor Hawaii is facing BYU and Pep soon...your pineapples will get crushed. As far as my proposed bet with Bookum, I wear California/Hawaiian shirts most of the time, so my bet was that when Pepperdine beats UH, then Bookum would give me his Hawaiian shirt...XL is my size. On the off chance and improbable event of Pep losing to the Bows, I would give him my California/Hawaiian shirt, together with the bragging rights of beating vbcrusin. Who says "we're NOT competitive Fans?" You seem pretty knowledgeable about the MPSF teams, Bare foot, what are your predictions for this coming week. Later Brudder.

VBCrusin, I enjoy your perspectives. You are an astute Vball fan, and your predictions and analysis of the MPSF teams and matches are always a joy to read. I know a little about the MPSF teams, but quite honestly my knowledge pales in comparison to that of the regular posters on this side of the Volleytalk board. As you correctly stated, Hawai'i has been inconsistent. The Warriors are a very talented team, but haven't always played up to their potential, much to the chagrin of Warrior fans. I like Bookum's idea of dropping the Libero, and allowing Zimet, as a primary passer, to serve and attack. Azenha is probably a more productive Opposite than Zimet. This new Warrior lineup ( with Azenha at opposite and Zimet at Libero ) worked well against Northridge the second night. Now if Stanhiser could just borrow some of Miladinovic's fire, the Warriors would be even better. I'll humbly reserve my MPSF predictions untill after the matches

I'm still not convinced about Hawaii even getting a bid (hence my other post), and you never know who will win the tournament. What really hurts them this year is that they seem to be playing all their tough matches on the road. What place are they now, anyway?

If you took the MIVA or EIVA teams and put them in the MPSF, over the course of the season they would be scraping the bottom of the conference barrel! Sorry, but that's a fact! There is no perfect scenario or system, I just think that the MPSF is far far superior to either of the other two representatives. On any given night any of the MPSF teams can beat the other but over the course of the season usually several teams prevail. I just like my idea, you like yours, so be it! you know what is sad...you make a comment like that and you don't even have the guts to register on this board. Yes, the West coast does have more teams and yes they have done very well in the past. But I also believe that the East and Midwest have been coming on strong at a very fast pace. There is more to Men's Volleyball than just the west coast.

This is the typical Myopic Volleyball fan answer. Get used to it my midwest friend or it will give you a headache!
Of course some of the best ball has and still being played on the West Coast. No one can deny this. But the some of the best players are coming from all over the US....as the sport is beginning to grow. Open your eyes people!
To anonymous Beachman : I will use a great quote on you that Andy Dufrain once said: " How can you be so obtuse"
Now run and find your dictionary to look up "obtuse"!

As always, I love your predictions but can't predict the outcome of a match to save my own life. Thats probably why I do so poorly in Vegas. I never seem to win at the tables. As far as where I am from, I am a local boy from the islands of Hawaii. Lived here all my life, so I am up on the MPSF really well, but dont know too much about the MIVA and EIVA.
