Let's support NBC. They put together this newsletter and sent it for volleyball fans.

During the different Oly trials NBC did a crappy job and never lived up to their claims of outstanding coverage. One poll by USATF fans gave NBC poor ratings for their coverage of the trials.
I doubt that NBC will do anything different than previous TV coverages of the Olympics which has never had a good track record with Americans. With volleyball being a minor sport with American sports fans don't expect anything but spotty coverage and breakaways to other sports. You might see a full USA metal match if the USA gets anywhere close to being in one.

NBC needs to resurrect the TripleCast package of PPVs. The idea was a bust in 1992, but with today's on-demand technology and their own network capabilities, I think it would make money in 2008.

My understanding was that all sports would be televised over Windows Media Center... haven't had time to see that this is true or not.

I'll be at work during the day. I remember 4 years ago I was setting my VCR to tape for 6 hours at a time, and then scheduling the next VCR to tape a whole tape. Got me hooked on the swimming. With Tivo, I was hoping I would be able to be more selective. Doesn't look any easier to just get Volleyball with 12 hour time blocks. NBCOlympics.com schedule Maybe it is time to buy that terrabyte hard drive Tivo ?

An example of typical America Olympic coverage.
It's game 5 in a crucial match that the US needs to win so they can get into the medal round.Logan Tom who already has 6 aces in the match is serving for game point when you know who, everyone's favorite volleyball talking head says,"And now we will take you to Mao Zedong Arena for the opening rounds of Chinese Checkers."

I'm trying to figure out if my Comcast OnDemand service will include the Olympics. I can take a look when I get home. I would think they would have arrangements with NBC to allow for it.

I hope they get over doing things like " volleyball" = men's volleyball and label all sports with complete information.
Like the above listing for Telemundo. Is it men's volleyball?

I'm wondering why they haven't left for China yet. USA Women's Soccer team has been in China since last week. They're at a city on the coast of China training and staying at some posh hotel.

Men's NT just finished in Brazil 3-4 days ago for FIVB World League. I imagine they are taking less than a week to go to socal/home to their apartments, calm their brains a bit, they had "Official" farewell in Disneyland Tues aft, are at San Jose State today to get their gear and be processed out, and will likely leave tonite Weds.... or Thurs to China. Seems the FIVB World Cup tourney was scheduled pretty tightly to needing to get to China. We won. but even if we had not, likely a necessary and valuable final tune up. Don't know but that maybe a week earlier scheduling would have been a benefit to all.
Women have had more of a break. Likely processing thru San Jose State today too./Weds. Big dinner tonite at St Mary's College and final practice at Cal on Thurs before they fly out.
Only those players who have done Olympic playing with major time change adjustments can speak to how much time OFF might be a good idea or not....and how much prior practice at the venue can bring the team to its peak regardless of how recently... or not, tourney play has been going on.
Anyone on here from prior Olympics? How many days prior to beginning of play did you arrive and how beneficial or not was that timing? Other than Atlanta of course...with minimal jet lag considerations.
