Here's a lightweight topic and it's about the ball that is being used for indoor competition...kinda find the ball a distraction and reminds of a ball that is used in a circus. Anyone finds it annoying, amusing or wish for the days when the ball was all-white?

I wish for the ball used in the World League, World Grand Prix, and every other international tournament. The thing doesn't even look like a volleyball!

Has ANYONE gotten hold of this new ball yet? It looks bigger to me on TV and it looks like it floats more.

The announcers said that the ball moves more. But i don't know if they have actually touched it or tried it. They didn't say that any specific player made the comments, so i don't know where they got their info.

The announcers said that the ball moves more. Yeah I heard the announcers say that too. I think it was Karch. (Not sure though). They didn't sound too keen on the new ball. It's interesting because Mikasa claims that the ball is suppose to have a "truer flight" due to the dimples....

I thought one of the so-called reasons behind the introduction of this orb was that it would fly _truer_, as if anyone really wants that. What I don't like is that it makes it even more obvious when mangled sets aren't being called.

What I don't like is that it makes it even more obvious when mangled sets aren't being called. Expect those "mangled" sets to also not be called in the up coming collegiate and club seasons. "...spin alone is not sufficient criteria to judge a double contact." I expect that there will be a lot of wailing from the setting traditionalists this year about the sets being let go. Just another way that your are bringing your own team down by moaning about things one cannot control. I say take advantage of the rules instead of whining about them because they are not going to change. If you do not change, then you might as well be a dinosaur and lose.

Get ready for every referee interpreting this rule change differently is much more likely.
And don't count those dinosaurs out. I'm predicting a comeback.

And we used to think a Tachi at $53 was expensive! A Tachikara might last part of one season. It is leather (it will absorb sweat) and powerful hitters make them eggs. The synthetic Mikasa will last 4 or 5 years of AA and open level abuse. $15 bucks a year for a volleyball isn't bad. I can't wait to play with the MVA200.

Do you know a Jurassic Park scientist somewhere?? Everything comes around and goes around. Unfortunately, by the time the rules that we knew of 20 yrs ago might not come back for another 20 yrs.
