I've got time on my hands and here is something that's been on my mind.
Teams that I miss in the volleyball competition on the women's side - Germany, Peru, Netherlands(is is The Netherlands?), South Korea....Kenya. Those ladies was a pleasure to watch even though they were overly outmatched way, way back in Athens 2004 - they had fun playing against USA knowing full well they weren't gonna beat us. Wasn't this team along with Senegal to be the best teams in the African region? Does anyone wonder wish that Canada or Dominican Republic was in the tournament if they had beaten Cuba or U.S. in regional compeition?
On the men's side...Canada, South Korea and Argentina.
From what I read both Venezuelan teams are not contenders for a medal in vball competition but I think it's great that they're making their Olympic debut at the same time. The Venezuelans must excited about them being in the Olympics. I've already seen the men's team play...played better than I thought but what about the women's team. For those who watch international volleyball what is your take on the men's and women's team?

The coaches for the Venezuelan teams are from Cuba, a part of the connection between Castro and Chavez. Their philosophy is all Cuban: you know what I am doing, I know that you know, but you still have to stop us. The team philosophy is predicated on hitting really hard and serving really hard. Kind of a hard puncher's strategy from boxing. If they get better trained players who works towards playing their game, I think they can get better. Right now, they are just a great regional team, witness their qualifying for the Olympics, and not a great global team.

The coach for the Venezuelan mens national team is Ricardo Navajas. He doesn't have anything to do with the Castro - Chaves connection (is there any?). He is Brazilian, coached some very strong club teams there as well as some Juniors teams. Now you should stop pulling s*&T out of your bottom and try to make a more sound comment.

The coaches for the Men's team are Brazillian. I stand corrected. I read his bio earlier and I swear it said Cuba.
