That match on Friday had to be one of Hawaii's Greatest Wins in School History (excluding the National Championship game of 2002). I'm sorry Hawaii Fans, but I've got to give it to the Cougars as The Best Volleyball Fans in the Country. Hawaii fans are the Most Loyal and Supportive (and maybe the most knowledgeable) but you had to be there Friday nite at the Marriott Center with over 11,000 (90% BYU students, 150 Loyal Hawaii Fans) screaming, hollering BYU Courgar Fans bangin on those Thunder Sticks. IT WAS ELECTRIC. Smith Field House is The Most Hostile Gym in the Country, but it was nothing compared to the Marriott that night. The Hawaii players couldn't even hear each other except just before a serve. Hawaii players will tell you that nothing in Hawaii can compare to Friday's Game. Costas said that it was a "Once in a lifetime game".
Hawaii is a very emotional squad, and they play well with that emotion. Man, if you couldn't get up for this Game, you might as well hang it up. Any other team in the Country would have folded (even Pepperdine) under that atmosphere. After that game I truly believe Hawaii could actually REPEAT this year for the National Championship. If they can't fed off this win and take to Pepperdine this week, then maybe Pepperdine is the better team.
BYU really knows how to put on a SHOW. Sorry Vili but the BYU Cougar Mascot beats you Hands Down. The match had some great side show during the time outs. The best was the Bungee/Volleyball Contest, and the Enrique Iglesia impersonators. I love the BYU fight song. Hawaii really needs a floor level student section (aka Duke Crazies) of about 1500 seats. It really makes a difference. Also, I've been to many places, but, there are alot of Good Lookin Women in Utah.
