So I guess you heard HWY As for BYU - I don't think so at all. Ivan Perez is an awesome player I can only see getting better. We'll see how new recruits affect the program but I think they'll be a mid-top tier team still.

BYU has always puzzled me because they are a Mormon school out in the middle of Utah, and yet they have a volleyball team. I just looked at their website, and I guess the fact that they have one three titles and been to four final fours in the last seven years just never hit me until now. My question is how the heck do they do it?

Because all the good Mormon volleyball players want to go there. Let's say there are 50 top recruits, 5 are mormon. The 45 are split amongst the other MPSF teams while the 5 mormon's go to BYU. The mormon's are just as good as the other 45 recruits but they all go to BYU because it is a Mormon institution.

And, because mormons go there for free anyways, they can save the scholarships for non mormons. (notice how no one jumped in with the "because they are older" reason, aren't we all just getting along great)

BYU will be very good. Ivan, Victor, Rob, and if the cuban Cala works out everyone better watch out.

Two of my friends signed with Pepperdine. Todd Dildine - Fresno, CA, Central Cal VBC MB/OH Brett Hughes - Fresno, CA, Central Cal VBC S/(Converting to OH/OPP?) Haysuess, how tall are these guys? Do you think they'll work their way into the starting line-up as freshmen? (I guess I'm just trying to figure out who will be "filling" the OH, Opp and Lib spots vacated by the three seniors)

They're each 6'6" give or take an inch. I haven't seen them play in a year but I'd say they're most definitely going to redshirt. Brett Hughes was a setter but I don't see any new setters that would be starting over Winder so I'm assuming he'll try for a hitting position as they ran a 6-2 in this years high school season. Todd Dildine was a MB and from what I hear has moved to OH. It's tough to say whether either will skip a redshirt year and tougher to see them starting/playing so I'm going to say they'll redshirt.

Thanks for the info... Since Marv basically never subs all season, I don't really know how talented Pepp's bench is, so I'm wondering if an incoming freshman could have the inside track to being a starting OH or Opp... This would be true especially since the player who came off the bench the most for Pepp this past season was Tanner Sutherland who's only 6'2"/6'3"... not that there's anything WRONG with that height (cough, cough), but Marv LOVES to start 6'7"-6'10" trees across the board... so who knows if he'll actually be a starter in 06 rather than another year as the "serving (not-so)specialist"

Brett Hughes is a lefty so he could play opposite.

No he's not. lol Both guys are righty. I never thought about the whole Tanner Sutherland situation, with that in mind I guess they do have a chance at playing Hopefully they even grew an inch.
