This is the Matadors senior night and final regular season home game. Crappy that I'm really sick right now and we are supposed to be painting our chests again. Anyways, what are you guys thinking if anything?

I'm thinking that CSUN has shown some resilience in recent matches and that Pepperdine has hit a bit of a plateau with its loss to Long Beach, and tight UCSB and Cal Baptist matches.... This is an important match for Pepp to get some momentum going again before the MPSF tourney begins (in Malibu luckily)...

Pep has already clinched the MPSF, so they might rest some people and let some reserves play. Just a thought. Also, in case they play Northridge in the playoffs, they might not want to show all their cards. On the other hand, you would like to have some momentum going in. Either way, Northridge is playing well and will be tough at home. I wonder if the fact that Pep has clinched will let them relax and play well, or maybe they won't be very motivated. I would not be surprised to see the Matadors win tonite.

Maybe a deeper team like UCLA could afford to rest some people, but Coach Dunphy rarely subs. I don't think there are more than 2 bench players that have played a full rotation since January.. if even then.
I think keeping the starters in and getting a solid game under their belts before the playoffs would be more beneficial.

I'd like to see CSUN win tonight's match. Won't be easy and they might just pull off an upset - they've been playing well for the past month just losing two matches. I don't think that Pepperdine will ease up at all, so I am expecting a very tight and exciting match.
Good luck Matadors!

Pepp wins in 4. And I changed my vote for POY, Rooney is a good stat man but is the most boring and undynamic player to watch imo. Same shot works every time for him but I want to see more flare.

Hey sjhaysuess:
From my thinly veiled screenname you can guess the school i root for, yet even I in the last couple weeks have said that Rooney shouldn't be POY but rather someone maybe like Patak from UCSB...
I think Rooney is a solid player, but I also think his play isn't very dynamic... I think back to watching Costas from Hawaii a couple years ago or even Big George Roumain from Pepp in 98/99.. THOSE guys were amazing to watch. Maybe wanting to find that sort of player every year is wishful thinking...

Pepperdine didn't need to rest anyone , they get a bye in the first round of the playoffs to rest everyone .

Puwave I think you got it right. I just want to see a more consistent explosive player rather than a Rooney type "every hit is a kill" but they're boring to watch.

If it aint broken dont fix it Rooney ain't "broken" but he's definitely not as good or dominant as he could/should be with his level of talent. Still, with politics he's a solid lock on POY.
