I'm seriously hoping (for your own personal sanity) that you meant to say "in order of CONFERENCE", because I can't see how you seriously believe Loyola AND/OR Penn State have a better chance at winning the title than Long Beach or Pepperdine.....

I'm gonna guess that he meant in order of his confidence that they will make the final four... but even then, Penn State is much more guaranteed than Loyola, and Pepperdine is a dead lock no matter what happens now.

That is what I thought he said as well. I am pretty certain Penn State will make it and so will Loyola. Pepperdine really doesn't need to do much to be considered for the at large. A win in the semi finals will give them almost an automatic bid into the Final Four. The last one is up in the air. I think it will be UCLA, but with the way this season has gone, it could be anyone.

why is that ridiculous? Penn State likely will win the eiva and loyola is the favorite for the miva. Unless u didnt no the format? The winners of each conference go to the final 4, as well as an at large team.

IMHO, I think the MIVA is more wide open that what everyone here thinks. Anyone of the four teams could win, if they are on and the other team is off, even slightly. I think Ohio State actutally has the best chance of winning it all.
We'll know for sure in a couple of weeks!

Loyola is the class of the MIVA. They have yet to flex their muscle and find out how good they really are. My take is that they have another gear or maybe two that they have if needed against MIVA foes. They are the real deal...the best ever at Loyola. OSU has a prayer, but only a "high-school setter" that is slow and high. Not exactly a good thing for the faster more intense playoff games. IPFW I don't think much of. Ball State has the best of the back rows. Those guys can dig anything. They have a chance when Peckler and Berg are on their game. Problem is playing at Loyola....
Penn State is awakening to the fact of the EIVA catching up to them in talent. This should see them thru. They should wear down Juniata in 4 to win another trip to the FF, but sometimes PSU is emotionally flat and this will hurt them against a hungry Juniata.
Long Beach is the hot team that is peaking right now. (Great timing) Look for them to walk thru the MPSF with the usual bumps. Historically, I know that Pepperdine has the inside track to go to the FF. This knowledge will hurt them instead of help them. Pepperdine is just too easy to breakdown in video..no mystic at all. UCLA I like.....but the stupid weighted vote system hurts them against Pepperdine for the at-large.

Long Beach got swept by Hawai'i in Long Beach just a week ago, and now the 49ers have to travel to Hawai'i to play the Warriors in the MPSF tourney. I think the Beach's season ends in Honolulu.

What is the weighted vote system?? That's when they bring in Marvin Hall and Jon Martin to cast votes for the at-large bid.

lol "weighted vote system".... Pepperdine finished with the best record in the best conference in the country, making them the best regular-season team in the country. This is why they will get the at-large bid no matter what. If there were more than 4 NCAA playoff spots available, things might end up differently.... but that's dreaming of a different world.

For those of you thinking that the MPSF will be represented in the Final Four by Pepp (the #1 seed) and Long Beach St (the "hot" team), it most likely won't happen.
IF Long Beach (the #5 seed) beats Hawaii, they'll most likely have to play Pepp (the #1 seed) in the SEMI-FINALS (unless some lower team upsets UCLA and/or BYU).
If Beach loses that semi, they're likely lose the wild card to the other MPSF finals team. If Pepp loses that semi, the could easily lose the wild card spot to a UCLA team that losess to "hot" Beach in the MPSF finals....
I think Beach and Pepp are the two that SHOULD make it, but the seedings make it quite unlikely.
