Andy Hein, a 6-10 junior middle blocker for second-ranked Pepperdine University (21-2, 20-2 MPSF), has been chosen the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Men's National Player of the Week. Hein sparked the Waves to two four-game victories last week allowing Pepperdine to capture its third Mountain Pacific Sports Federation regular season title in the last four years. He charted a .684 attack percentage versus seventh-ranked UC Santa Barbara on April 13 with 14 kills, nine block assists and an ace. Hein provided a career-high 14 blocks versus eighth-ranked Cal State Northridge on April 15, in addition to nine kills, four digs and an ace. He finished the week hitting .594 on 32 attacks and averaged 2.88 kills, 2.88 blocks, 0.50 digs and 0.25 aces per game. Hein averages 2.37 kills, 1.51 blocks, 0.58 digs and 0.21 aces per game this season. He currently leads the nation attack percentage at .524 and is on pace to break the school's single-season attack percentage mark of .518. A Pepperdine student-athlete has earned the national honor 14 times during the program's history. Hein also earned the award on Feb. 14, 2005. The Pepperdine head coach is Marv Dunphy.
