I think we should have a good chance at winning this weekend. A Few of our players quit the team this last month, Jake wiens and Kawika burdine. I think if we had Jake we could go to the final four. But never count us out.

Why did Wiens quit?

They will be back next year. They are taken off the roster. It's over grades and stuff.

Sad news about Wiens and Burdine. Not the first time for UCSB to have players struggle with grades and/or maybe with the Kenny P....
But I'm thinking it might be hard for them to return to the roster if they aren't at school. I heard Wiens isn't even at school much less the roster. If this is the case, it will be hard to maintain the required gpa and required credits to be eligible next season. Maybe summer school can help.
Whatever happens, I hope they can pull themselves together. What a waste of great talent.

Jake goes to school all the time but its hard with such a party town. Also burdine had this problem last year, they bothplayed in a few matches this year. Jake will return to the roster next year.

Agreed. It is hard to be a student, an athlete, and a party animal. And I don't mean that to be sarcastic. Listen, UCSB is no worse than most other colleges. Partying happens everywhere. If it's not on campus, then I promise you it's near it. It's just hard to find the right balance between studying, practicing, and keg parties, and sooner or later something has to give. Eventually one learns to set a priority, and those are the athletes you are seeing on the court today.
I'm glad to hear Jake is still at school. Things seem more positive for the team then. We had overheard a couple of coaches talking about Jake's situation. It sounded like he was burned out on school and vb. He wasn't even going to play for the national team. They thought he had left school to pursue being a policeman or maybe it was a fireman. Whatever, things will work out for him one way or the other.
Meanwhile, hope UCSB has a good match against BYU.

Oh, definetely. UCSB has, by far, one of the highest per capita rates of upper-middle class white kids going to college and wasting mommy and daddy's retirement savings so they can party their asses off and test the limits of alcohol poisoning. LOL.

Wiens is not in school anymore and is unlikely to return next year.

I just seen Weins the other day, That is sorta wac. I will ask him tonight at a party.. He always walks around up and down del playa drive in his usa volley jacket. He will be back I know that for sure. The same reason Lily Kahumoko and other players took a year off.

It's refreshing to know that there are still schools like Long Beach, UCLA, USC & Colorado where partying is kept to a bare minimum. LOL. Oh I forgot my alma mater San Diego State- sure never saw any partying going on there!!!!!

BYU down 0-2 games.
Michael Burke is out, injured.
BYU had NO blocks in game two.
I don't think BYU has ever had to come back from 0-2 deficit and win this season...and I don't think this is the team that can pull that off.
Unless a miracle happens, I think BYU's season is nearly over.

I'm looking at live stats. Game two is not over and Burke is still playing and missed a serve at point 14? Am I not in live time or do you have a palantir?
