And why do car makers need the overhead of multiple divisions making and selling the same car? Not pick on Ford, but the Ford brand and Mercury sell the same vehicles. I have a Mazada Tribute. Which is the same as the Ford Escape and the Mercury Mariner. How much money is wasted in having competing products from the same company? They've been doing this kind of stuff for years. They do this because a manufacturer has a spot in their lineup to fill, but don't want to go through the design effort or want something to sell while they develop their own model. The Ford Probe was based off of the Mazda MX-6. Ford really dumbed down the Jaguar name with the S-type. They were just rebadged European Ford family sedans. The Merkur XR4Ti was pretty much the European Ford Sierra. The Mazda Navajo (I'm still puzzled by the name) was an Explorer. The Geo/Chevy Prizm was essentially a Toyota Corolla. The Chevy Nova that started off the NUMMI plant was also a Corolla. The Cadillac Catera was a GM Opel rebadged. The Audi A4/VW Passat. The Porche Cayenne and VW Toureg. The Honda Passport came from the Isuzu Rodeo. The Saab (9-2X) was restyled from the Subaru Impreza (and Impreza WRX). It had the nickname "Saabaru". Saturn has been based off of GM's European designs for years.

Because if we didn't have three, we couldn't refer to them as "the big three". What a silly question.

The Big Ten has 11 teams ... My Dad worked for GM for 30 years. He no longer has health care from GM... hourly retirees are still covered, though. Pretty scary for the people who have a lot of their pensions in the automaker's stock, because of stock options.

The Big Ten has 11 teams ... . When they say Big Ten, they are referring to the other 10 teams in the conference that your favorite Big 10 team will face. I heard they got more complaints when there were only 10 teams in the Big 10.
