Klosterman was not sick. He did not make the travel team! Al wanted to play a mind game with him since he is from Long Beach, he figured a not taking him to the Pyramid would fire him up. He keep taking his tipical shots at Klosterman in the daily bruin, he is not happy with Klosterman's play. Same game as he played with Acosta. Benched him for McKinney until McKinney stunk up the match vs Northridge and Acosta played great. So maybe Al should have played this "great" (LOL) setter named Azevedo, not messed with Klosterman, played Acostsa down the stretch and the team might have one at least one play off game. At least the might have a chance at the at large.
It does matter how the teams played down the stretch and CSULB put together a hell of run, so good it will be playing as the number #3 seed.
Not going to happen --- Win something when it matters bruins and you might of had a chance.

As much as i hate to say this i think UCLA will get the at-large. And i hope they do because if LBSU gets it then the finals will be VERY boring as was the mpsf finals. At least if UCLA gets there the possibility of Pepp getting a good match from them is much better.

Just like the NBA and NFL, seeding should be done by conference and then wild-cards/at large. The only reason that MPSF teams win so much is the stacked seeding carryover from the old-days. (when the MIVA and EIVA weren't as equal as the MPSF)
1. Pepperdine 2. PSU 3. OSU 4. UCLA/LB
But it won't happen because MPSF coaches make the rules.

rk... thanks for helping to make my point that the team is healthy, and not sick.

Are you trying to say that MIVA and EIVA are now equal?? HAHAHAHA, that is sooo funny, did you not watch the matches on sat. on cstv?? because the MPSF match was much superior than the other two matches.

Ok, I gave this some more thought last night and can see where the committee would grant UCLA the last spot because they're the host. I know the NCAA is concerned with ticket sales and attendance (because it's all about the $$$ with them, especially at championship events - no matter what the sport). I know Long Beach isn't that far away and will bring fans, but I can see the NCAA going for the "sure thing" (ie. - hometown fans and walk ups from the local community). EDIT: Ok, I swear I didn't see this before I posted! volleytalk.proboards35.com/index.cgi?board=menvb&action=display&thread=1114946775

1. Pepperdine 2. Penn State 3. CSULB 4. Ohio State Ther is no way that the baby bruins are getting in. I know a lot of you think they are getting in based on their overall record. That is only one criteria and that record is with Gonzalez setting. Which brings me to why they won't get in, area C in the criteria (health of team.) .... The committee wants to put the best teams in and UCLA is not the best team! They have been terrible down the stretch and now they don't have their setter. It is a no brainer for the committee..............Adios westwood winers. Ahh.... foot-in-mouth syndrome.

You're really trying hard, rk. The fact is the Bruins are healthier today than last week, all around. It was Acevedo who set the UCLA smoking of LBS back on 1/27: 30-23, 30-24, 30-26... and it was Acevedo who guided the 2nd demolishing of the 49ers on 2/29: 30-21, 30-21, 30-27. He apparently has a knack for knowing how to beat LBS. It was Gonzales who set in the loss at the Pyramid. Krashaur has had some sort of virus over the last month, and I'm told he's doing much better now. Johnson had a sprained ankle during the CSN match. That's healed. Klosterman's food poisoning for the LBS match is history. And a guy who didn't play much this year, Gray Garrett is now a force, as well as Prahler who's mid-season sprain that kept him out during the last LBS match and for most of the last month is healed and he's practicing at full strength. So anyone who thinks this team has injury problems is just ill informed. The opposite is the truth. good thing I had violin music avaiable. Like EVERY other team injuries effect outcomes. UCLA is the biggest bunch of excuse toteing winers I have ever had to listen to.

So... what were all the injuries to Long Beach State that prevented them from winning the season series against both UCLA and Pepperdine?
