Add this one: Long Beach had to win all of it's playoff games on the road, of which they won their first two. UCLA had to win theirs at home and lost to their first opponent, the #7 seed and a team not even ranked in the top 10!

What all the long beach fans need to realize is that UCLA was selected because they met all of the criteria. They had a better record, 5 losses to 10, so of course they would be the obvious choice for the at large bid. What the UCLA fans and the NCAA need to realize is that you need to send the best two teams in the MPSF to the playoffs, right now UCLA does not meet that criteria. They have been playing absolutly horrible volleyball with all of the injuries and lineup changes. UCLA has was hot at the beginning of the year but is now showing that when it comes down to the clutch they are choking it away. Records are not an indicator of how a team is playing at the moment, ask Northridge, there record was barely above .500 but they were able to take down the bruins in their own gym. In the last AP poll released May 2nd UCLA was ranked behind Long Beach State, i have a feeling when they lose they still will be... Check out the www.avca.org and look at the polls, a lot of other coaches feel the same way long beach does

UCLA did meet most of the"criteria" for whatever it's worth. All this criteria pertains to preseason history though. And that being said, and until these rules change, that's the way it is.
Maybe the NCAA could include some criteria that actually pertains to the tournament itself.... For instance, a #2 team losing on home court to the 7th seed in the quarter finals. A #5 team playing through to the finals, all the while never seeing the home court advantage. Gotta give the 49's some credit.
And, yes, the 49's had their chance against Pepperdine. Their only chance. And UCLA had their chance against CSUN to prove how strong they really were. And yet, they get a 2nd chance. Weak, weak, weak.
And, I'm not really a Long Beach fan. I just happen to agree with some college coaches.....Preston, Wilton, Peterson, Knipe to name a few and many volleyball fans that root for other teams besides Long Beach.
